WOONSOCKET — After his regular classes at Woonsocket High School, Jamel Williams usually heads over to the RiverzEdge Arts Project in Market Square for hands-on training in silk-screen printing. But he couldn't make it yesterday.
He was too busy being honored by first lady Michelle Obama in Washington, D.C.
In a ceremony at the White House, the first lady bestowed the 2010 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards on 15 organizations, including RiverzEdge and the Providence-based Community Music Works.
LINCOLN — As she readied herself for school Tuesday morning, Lincoln High junior Taylor Jutras argued vehemently with her mother, Tammy, about a mere two dollars. When “Ma” wouldn't budge on the request, she stormed out of the house “in a huff.”
About five hours later, Taylor admitted she had texted her mom several times, promising she was sorry for her behavior and understood Tammy's stance on the matter.

Must-win games? It seems like fans will have their pick of the litter when it comes to teams in the Blackstone Valley this weekend!
Friday’s action features four schools -- East Providence, Cumberland, Shea, and St. Raphael -- who sorely need to win their games over tough opponents in order to keep their respective playoff hopes alive.
PROVIDENCE -- The good news for Joe Gardner is that he’s going to fight for the EBA (Eastern Boxing Association) New England light heavyweight championship on Nov. 12 at the Twin River Event Center.
The bad news is that the Woonsocket fighter is going to have to battle a very familiar boxer to him, his trainer, Bob Moreau, and his corner -- his favorite sparring partner, Keith Kozlin of West Warwick.
PROVIDENCE -- It’s been two years since Peter Manfredo Jr. last fought in Rhode Island, but for the Manfredo’s Gym world middleweight champion, it seems like a lifetime ago.
The last time Manfredo stepped into the ring in this state, he endured one of the worst defeats of his pro career -- a third-round TKO loss to Sakio Bika for the IBO (International Boxing Organization) super middleweight title at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

UXBRIDGE- MARTIE J. (Yawn) Santacroce, 95, of Uxbridge, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge. She was the wife of the late Joseph Santacroce who died in 1995.
She was born in Lenox GA, daughter of the late Samuel and Almedia (Rentz) Santacroce and lived in Milford and Hopedale before moving to Uxbridge in 1998.
She was educated in the Lenox Ga. schools. She was a member of the Friends of the Elderly Community House in Hopedale.
John Roy Oakley
WOONSOCKET- John Roy Oakley passed away on Monday October 11th.
Born Sept, 10, 1966 in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Edward W. (Sr.) & Loretta (Gravel) Oakley John was employed for various construction & contracting Co's. in the area.
He is survived by 2 brothers Edward W. Oakley Jr. of Manville, RI and Todd A. Oakley of Providence, RI also a sister Patricia C. Ducharme of No. Smithfield, RI.

WOONSOCKET- Tracy Lea (Holder) Boisvert passed away on October 3rd at home. Born August 1, 1977 in Woonsocket. She was the daughter of Ivadean L. (Curtis) Buxton and the late Charles L. Holder Sr.
Besides her mother she is survived by 5 children Heaven, Dorothy, Jacob, Christian & Whitney 2 Sisters: Donna Sheridan & Florina Hichos and a brother Charles L. Holder Jr.
She was the mother to the late Hannah Howe.

CRANSTON- Jeffery N. Latendresse, 53 passed away October. 7, 2010 at home after a lingering illness.
Born in Providence, May 3, 1954. Son of Elaine (Lee) Latendresse and the late Norman Latendresse and the husband of Leslie Latendresse.
He is survived by two sons Aaran and Justin of Cranston. Sister Kristine Croft, two brothers Micheal of Marathon, Florida, Glen of Pascoag and brother the late Scott Latendresse.
A Memorial Mass Saturday Oct 23, at 11am at St. Joseph's Church, Sayles Avenue, Pascoag, R.I.. Burial will be private.
Arthur Cazeault
MILLVILLE- Arthur Cazeault, 89, resident of Millville MA, died Oct. 16, 2010 at Greenwood Nursing Home Warwick RI.
Husband of the late Doris (Scott) Cazeault.
Born in Oxford Ma, a son of the late Hector & Regina (Laroque) Cazeault.
Arthur owned and operated A&M Millwright in Millville MA, retiring in the early 80's. He also worked following his passion of restoring antique cars until last month before illness.
He was a member of H H Franklin Club for a long time, and was a President of the Counseling on Aging for many years in Millville MA.
