BLACKSTONE- Therese M. Haines, 79, of Blackstone, MA died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in Beaumont Nursing Home, Northbridge, MA. She was the wife of the late David B. Haines.
She was born in Woonsocket, RI daughter of the late Honore and Mary Louise (Fontaine) Faubert.
Mrs. Haines was employed for many years by C.D. Burns and Linden Clock Factory where she repaired cookoo clocks. She loved quilting and collecting ceramic mice.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Julienne M. (Forcier) Gelinas 88, formerly of Shady Lane died Saturday at the Holiday Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Rodolphe Gelinas.
Mrs. Gelinas was born in Woonsocket a daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Laferriere) Forcier.
She worked in the quality control room at Amprex Electronics for fifteen years before retiring in 1985, and also worked many years in the drawing room at the former Guerin Mills. She was a member of the Royal Travelers.

Bernadette was born in St. Valeriens, Quebec, Canada. Living in Melbourne, she moved to Rockledge in 2009. Bernadette, a homemaker, was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

BLACKSTONE- Roland G. Plasse 86, of Farm St. died Sunday in the Hebert Nursing Home. He was the husband of Maie A. (Labonte) Plasse. Mr. Plasse was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Napoleon and Lea (Girard) Plasse. He worked most of his life as a self employed carpenter. Mr. Plasse was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran.

BURRILLVILLE- Brother Lawrence J. Bergeron, S.C., (baptized Alcide), 95, of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Provincial House, Pascoag, RI, died November 5, 2010 at Mt. St. Rita Health Centre, Cumberland, RI. Born in Scotstown, PQ, Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph Bergeron and Delina Dictionnee (Desmarais) Bergeron.
Brother Lawrence entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart December 24, 1929 at St. Hyacinthe, Qubec, Canada. He pronounced his first vows in 1932 in Granby, Qubec, and his perpetual vows in 1938 at St. Hyacinthe, Qubec.

WOONSOCKET- Cecile LaForest, 76, died November 5, 2010 at the Friendly Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 6, 1934 in Pawtucket to the late Oliver and Flora (Coulombe) Drouin. Cecile was the loving wife of Robert W. LaForest of Woonsocket.
She worked as an assembler for the H&B Group of North Smithfield, RI as well as a homemaker to her family.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Mrs. Blanche (Gauthier) Coccoli, 90, of Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield and formerly of Lantern Apts., died Nov. 4, 2010 at St. Antoines Residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Coccoli.
Born Oct. 21, 1920 in Burrillville, a daughter of the late Alcide and Malvina (Parenteau) Gauthier.
Blanche worked as a sewer for the former Winslow Leather of Blackstone for many years.

WOONSOCKET- Roland E. Chamberland, 88, of 400 Mendon Rd., died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. He was the husband of Doris A. (Brunetti) Chamberland whom he married May 11, 1946.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Fabien and Alexina (Bourque) Chamberland.

Lincoln girls soccer team ready for playoffs

Eight teams will square off today-- weather permitting -- in the Division II playoffs. And perhaps six of them could actually win the state title that will be decided this coming Sunday at Rhode Island College.
“Our division is very close,” Lincoln coach John D’Aloisio admitted over the weekend. His Lions host North Smithfield at 4 p.m. today.
A day-long rain is in the forecast. Any games postponed today likely would be made up on Tuesday.

Ponaganset's Casey McGrath runs well in state meet

GLOCESTER ---- Casey McGrath, a sophomore from Ponaganset High, crossed the finish line and looked up at the big digital clock.
Burrillville junior Anna Dumais did the same thing at Sunday’s RIIL State Cross-Country Championships.
When you're not considered one of the contenders for an individual title or a top finish, sometimes that’s the best way to determine if your five-kilometer journey was a successful one.
For the two local harriers as well as several others, the clock showed just the kind of numbers that would put their performances in that “success” category.
