PROVIDENCE -- Itâs been two years since Peter Manfredo Jr. last fought in Rhode Island, but for the Manfredoâs Gym world middleweight champion, it seems like a lifetime ago.
The last time Manfredo stepped into the ring in this state, he endured one of the worst defeats of his pro career -- a third-round TKO loss to Sakio Bika for the IBO (International Boxing Organization) super middleweight title at the Dunkinâ Donuts Center.
Martie J. Santacroce
UXBRIDGE- MARTIE J. (Yawn) Santacroce, 95, of Uxbridge, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge. She was the wife of the late Joseph Santacroce who died in 1995.
She was born in Lenox GA, daughter of the late Samuel and Almedia (Rentz) Santacroce and lived in Milford and Hopedale before moving to Uxbridge in 1998.
She was educated in the Lenox Ga. schools. She was a member of the Friends of the Elderly Community House in Hopedale.
John Roy Oakley
WOONSOCKET- John Roy Oakley passed away on Monday October 11th.
Born Sept, 10, 1966 in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Edward W. (Sr.) & Loretta (Gravel) Oakley John was employed for various construction & contracting Co's. in the area.
He is survived by 2 brothers Edward W. Oakley Jr. of Manville, RI and Todd A. Oakley of Providence, RI also a sister Patricia C. Ducharme of No. Smithfield, RI.
His Funeral & Burial will be private.
Tracy Lea Boisvert
WOONSOCKET- Tracy Lea (Holder) Boisvert passed away on October 3rd at home. Born August 1, 1977 in Woonsocket. She was the daughter of Ivadean L. (Curtis) Buxton and the late Charles L. Holder Sr.
Besides her mother she is survived by 5 children Heaven, Dorothy, Jacob, Christian & Whitney 2 Sisters: Donna Sheridan & Florina Hichos and a brother Charles L. Holder Jr.
She was the mother to the late Hannah Howe.
CRANSTON- Jeffery N. Latendresse, 53 passed away October. 7, 2010 at home after a lingering illness.
Born in Providence, May 3, 1954. Son of Elaine (Lee) Latendresse and the late Norman Latendresse and the husband of Leslie Latendresse.
He is survived by two sons Aaran and Justin of Cranston. Sister Kristine Croft, two brothers Micheal of Marathon, Florida, Glen of Pascoag and brother the late Scott Latendresse.
A Memorial Mass Saturday Oct 23, at 11am at St. Joseph's Church, Sayles Avenue, Pascoag, R.I.. Burial will be private.
MILLVILLE- Arthur Cazeault, 89, resident of Millville MA, died Oct. 16, 2010 at Greenwood Nursing Home Warwick RI.
Husband of the late Doris (Scott) Cazeault.
Born in Oxford Ma, a son of the late Hector & Regina (Laroque) Cazeault.
Arthur owned and operated A&M Millwright in Millville MA, retiring in the early 80's. He also worked following his passion of restoring antique cars until last month before illness.
He was a member of H H Franklin Club for a long time, and was a President of the Counseling on Aging for many years in Millville MA.
PROVIDENCE â In a televised slugfest that remained competitive and contentious until the final bell, Democrat David Cicilline and Republican John Loughlin fought toe-to-toe over Social Security, taxes, jobs, health care and a raft of other issues Tuesday.
The two main candidates vying to succeed Democrat Patrick Kennedy as the congressman in the 1st District argued almost every issue vehemently, frequently trying to talk over each other and occasionally they had to be reined in by moderator Tim White of WPRI.
WOONSOCKET â A city man was in police custody Tuesday evening after allegedly robbing the Sovereign Bank at 11 Social St. of an undetermined amount of cash earlier in the day.
Howard Nightingale, 46, of East School St., was apprehended on a Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority bus at Park Square after police received information he was on the vehicle, Police Lt. Eugene Jalette said Tuesday evening.
âThe bus was stopped by North Smithfield police and officers were able to get him off the bus and place him under arrest,â Jalette said.
BLACKSTONE â A Woonsocket man was taken into custody off Farm Street Tuesday after a stand-off with police lasting more than four hours.
Members of a State Police response team set off a âflash bangâ device at 6:32 p.m. before rushing Anthony Daignault, 53, in his pick-up truck and taking him into custody without further incident.
Antonio J. Satch
FRANKLIN- Antonio J. Satch Talamini Jr. 78, a lifelong Franklin resident, died Monday October 18, 2010 at Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jane L. (Fressenden) Talamini, who died in 1998.
Born in Franklin, September 28, 1932 a son of the late Antonio J. and Josephine (Bartolomei) Talamini he was raised and educated in Franklin and was a 1952 graduate of Franklin High School. While a student at Franklin High School, Mr. Talamini pitched the first no-hitter in school boy baseball.
