WOONSOCKET â Perfect regular season. Three more wins and it will be the perfect ending.
Mount St. Charles Academy finished up the league portion of its Division I-North slate unbeaten on Thursday night, courtesy of a 3-1 victory over visiting La Salle Academy on Senior Night with scores of 25-20, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20.
Mount concludes it second straight 14-0 league season and now prepares for the quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed in the state tournament next weekend, tentatively scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4, on its home court.
Before Tolman can set its sights on a repeat Division II-B regular-season title, the Tigers are going to have to overcome a tall order tonight -- namely one of the biggest and best defensive teams in all of Division II in West Warwick.
The Wizards, who are 4-1 and a game behind Tolman (5-0) in the standings, boast plenty of size in their front seven with veteran linemen Aaron Koehler and Cesar Jimenez and two defensive ends that clearly have the attention of Tolman head coach Dave Caito.

WOONSOCKET â What is an appropriate slogan for the 2011 Mount St. Charles girlsâ volleyball teams?
âKeep the good times rollingâ seems applicable, given that the Mounties under the careful watch and observation of head coach Josh DâAbate have blossomed into a perennial championship contender. Standing at 13-0 in Division I-North with one regular season game remaining â tonight at home vs. La Salle â this Mount team is following in the footsteps of its decorated predecessors (MSC has posted a whopping 65-10 regular-season record since 2007, winning the Div. II championship in 2009).
There are phone calls and then there are phone calls like the one Mount St. Charles hockey coach Dave Belisle received from Catholic Memorial coach Bill Hanson in late September.
WOONSOCKET â Mayor Leo T. Fontaine may not have an opponent on next monthâs election ballot but he does have a cause.
Fontaine says heâs doing everything he can to persuade voters to reject the proposed synchronization of municipal, state and federal elections. Itâs one of four referendum questions that will appear on the ballot of the citywide election Nov. 8.
âIâm speaking out against it every chance I get,â says the mayor.
Robert L. Lemay
WOONSOCKET- Robert L. Lemay, 74, of St. Barnabe St., Woonsocket, died Tuesday. He was the husband of Claire H. (Duplessis) Lemay. They were married on September 3, 1956.
Born in Blackstone, he was a son of the late Leo and Anita (Robert) Lemay. He resided in Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Lemay was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force.
Mr. Lemay's career spanned for over 30 years of service at Industrial Machine Corp. in Georgiaville until his retirement.
James J. Serra
BELLINGHAM- James J. "Jim" Serra, 51, of Bellingham, MA, died on October 21, 2011 in Rehoboth, MA in an automobile accident.
He was the beloved husband of Donna J. (Ferris) Serra and the loving father of Amber J. Serra of Bellingham.

PROVIDENCE â Ed Cooley knew he was in store for some rough sledding the moment he signed up at Providence College last March.
The task is great, but even Cooley had shake his head in disbelief based on what went down prior to the Friars hitting the floor for their first exhibition game on Tuesday night. A thin roster was stretched even thinner as Cooley had just eight scholarship players available for his teamâs tuneup against Assumption College.
WOONSOCKET â Itâs been a long, difficult year for Woonsocket High, but on Tuesday afternoon, the one-win Villa Novans nearly came away with the highlight of their season and a big upset victory over their playoff-bound, crosstown rivals.
Down by a 2-0 score after a half of action, Mount St. Charles Academy battled back with three goals in the first 25 minutes of the second half and held on for a 3-2 victory before a large gathering at the Mountiesâ lower soccer field.
