WOONSOCKET â€” A Woonsocket High School group of soon-to-be international ambassadors has reached the halfway point in their efforts to fund a trip-of-a-lifetime for the Class of 2012 members.
The six members of schoolâ€™s Interact Club and Global Citizenship Program are planning to make a three-week-long visit to Rwanda in February to learn first-hand how that country is recovering from its devastating genocide of 1994.

CUMBERLAND- Arage, Marilyn J. (Hughes) "Merry", passed away on Sunday at the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence after her courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pawtucket RI in 1942, daughter of the late Capt. Peter H. Hughes (retired) of the Pawtucket Police Dept. and Irene D. (Williamson) Hughes.
Sharon R. Renaud
WOONSOCKET- Sharon R. (Works) Renaud, 63, of Clinton St., died Friday, November, 18, 2011 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Lionel "Mike" Renaud.
Born in Kankakee, IL, she was the daughter of the late Charles Works and Eunice E. (Pendley) Keyes.
Mrs. Renaud worked as a Phlebotomist and Medical Assistant for DC Thundermist and Landmark Medical Center. She was a member of the Lafayette Club, Woonsocket and enjoyed singing and spending time with her family.
BELLINGHAM- Matthew Lloyd Rhodes, 26, of Lake St., Bellingham, MA died Friday in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Daniel M. and Nancy J. (Bourque) Rhodes.
He worked in the sales department for Bellingham Lumber. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 2004 and attended CCRI.
Matthew was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed the company of his many friends.
WOOD RIVER JUNCTION- Fernand Jerome Bergeron, 86, of Bristol and Wood River Junction passed away on Nov 20th at South County Hospital. He was the husband of Therese Dolores (Desauliniers) Bergeron.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Cme and Roseanna (Bergeron) Bergeron.
Joseph S. Chudy
WOONSOCKET- Joseph S. Chudy, 68, of East School St. passed away on Friday at Landmark Medical Ctr.
Born Feb. 18, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the Son of the late Joseph & Victoria (Gadziala) Chudy.
Joseph was Employed as a Cost Estimator for the Green Bros. Co. and also was A Bookkeeper for Hebert's Ready Mix Co. He retired in 2007. He was A Army Veteran during the Vietnam era.
WOONSOCKET- Constance Bogdan, age 74, of Woonsocket, RI, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
She was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1937 in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Arthur T. and Rena (Jacob) Lapierre Sr.
She was a lifelong Woonsocket resident, who enjoyed working at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket for 13 years as a housekeeper, which she retired from in August 1993. In addition to working at Landmark, Constance had also worked for Royal Robes for 5 years as a seamstress.
Yvonne T. Emond
CUMBERLAND- Yvonne T. Emond,70, of Eli Street, Cumberland died Friday, November 18, 2011. She was the wife of Emile J. Emond. They had been married 52 years.
Mrs. Emond was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Leonard and Flora (Brouillette) Buckley.
Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Tina Emond of Cumberland, andTodd Emond and his wife Ruth of Warwick. She also leaves two grandchildren, Victoria and Brandon, two nieces and one nephew.
She was the mother of the late Emile J. Emond Jr.
Jeanne d'Arc Fontaine
WOONSOCKET- Jeanne d'Arc (Melancon) Fontaine 87, Woonsocket, died peacefully Saturday surrounded by her loving family at the Miriam Hospital. She was the loving wife of Bernard Fontaine.
Mrs. Fontaine was born on September 11, 1924 in Montreal, P.Q. Canada, the daughter of the late Omer and Marie-Anna (Beauchemin) Melancon. She came to reside in Woonsocket at an early age.
