Attention, area veterans. The Call is holding a photograph session at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Cumberland Monastery, hoping veterans from all over the Blackstone Valley will congregate to have their picture taken in a large group photo.

Ponaganset battles for playoff berth against SRA

A not-so-funny thing happened to St. Raphael and Ponaganset on their way to sewing up the Division II-B’s final two playoff spots.
The Saints and Chieftains, who were each just one victory away from clinching berths last weekend and taking on two teams with paper-thin hopes of reaching the playoffs, were instead the victims of two mild upset losses.
Last Friday night, the Chieftains (3-3), who were visiting a Pilgrim team (3-3) that got socked in its three losses to Tolman, West Warwick, and SRA, found themselves dropping a 26-12 verdict.

Couple survives high carbon monoxide levels

LINCOLN — Normand and Evelyn Olean sat at their dining room table conversing and laughing with Lime Rock Fire Chief Frank Sylvester early Wednesday afternoon.
Just 28 hours before, the senior couple and the chief spent time together for a vastly different reason; Sylvester maintains the Oleans, who have been married 56 years, are lucky to be alive after massive levels of carbon monoxide were discovered inside their Sherman Avenue home Tuesday morning.

WOONSOCKET- Claire D. Parenteau, 77 of 547 Clinton Street, formerly of Diamond Hill Road Woonsocket, passed peacefully Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center.
Born in Woonsocket to Oscar J. and Charlotte (Warren) Gignac, she was the beloved wife of the late Paul P. Parenteau who passed in May of 2011.
Claire worked for many years in the greater Woonsocket area.

BURRILLVILLE- Genvieve F. Letondress 90, resident of Lakeland FL, formerly of Burrillville died October 16, 2011 at the Consulate Healthcare of Lakeland in FL.
Wife of the late Wilfred Letondress.
She was born on May 18, 1921, in Fort Worth TX, a daughter of the late Oscar & Nora (McGee) Morris.
She was an inspector for the Norton Safety Products retiring in 1983. She was a former member of the Bradford Court Residents Association.

BELLINGHAM- Teresa Elena (Tedeschi) Dalpe, 82, of Bellingham, MA passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to Florent M. "Teke" Dalpe who she married on November 23, 1950 at St. Mary's Church, Providence, RI.
Born in Providence, RI on April 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John Tedeschi and Anna (Tagliaferri) Tedeschi Aidjan.

Man charged with stealing natural gas

WOONSOCKET — A local man was charged with the theft of natural gas service after police located stolen National Grid equipment and tools at the apartment where he was staying on Saturday.
Timothy E. Ring, 34, was located in a bedroom in an apartment at 47 Paradis Ave. after police investigated a report of gas service tampering at the location at about 1 p.m. Saturday.
A National Grid employee called Patrolman Thomas Gormley III to the location after discovering that a stolen gas meter may have been attached to lines for a shutoff service at the property.
