WOONSOCKET — If you liked yesterday’s weather, you’re going to love what Mother Nature has in store for us today.
The latest in a series of unusually fierce winter storms turns out to be a double-dipper. After dumping four to seven inches of snow across the Blackstone Valley Tuesday, a second wave — a hard-to-predict combo of snow, sleet and rain — is expected to whack the region by nightfall.

CHS grapplers still going strong

CUMBERLAND — Another snow day, another lost practice session for Cumberland High’s wrestling team.
“This makes me very uncomfortable,” Cumberland coach Steve Gordon was saying on Tuesday morning as another snowstorm hit the region. “I don’t have any control over the kids’ weights when we can’t practice. But my guys know what to do. They are pretty good about it. Some of them will go over to Northeast Elite (a wrestling school in Woonsocket) and get a workout in. We can’t practice at the school because if school is cancelled, it’s over. You can’t practice.”

Cumberland's 'D' gets an 'A'

CUMBERLAND — There may be a ‘D’ at the end of Cumberland, but when it comes to the high school’s hockey team, the ‘D’ has been front and center for the past several seasons.
After 11 games, the Clippers have surrendered a division-low 17 goals, and news of them being atop this department shouldn’t be anything new to those who follow the Division II circuit.
