Gardner fights Ayala tonight at Foxwoods

WOONSOCKET — It takes a lot to get an easygoing person like Joe Gardner angry, but that’s exactly how the Woonsocket Boxing Club fighter felt on the afternoon of his first main event fight and EBA (Eastern Boxing Association) New England light heavyweight title defense on March 16.
Instead of heading to Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc.’s “Boxing At The Royale” show in Boston for his much-anticipated eight-round showdown with Lowell, Mass.’s “Irish” Joey McCreedy, Gardner found himself staying home because the show was abruptly postponed.

SLATERSVILLE- Hedwig C. Dobrowolski, 87, resident of Wakefield, formally of Slatersville died March 29, 2011 at the So. County Hospital in Wakefield.
Loving wife of the late Stanley W. Dobrowolski.
Born in Worcester MA, a daughter of the late Julian & Stanislawa (Hetnick) Ruchala.
She worked as a seamstress for the Denhom Co. in Worcester MA; she also was a teacher in painting and doing arts and crafts. She was a member of St. Johns Ladies Guild and the womens auxiliary of the VFW.

WOONSOCKET- Normand C. Berard 81, formerly of Manville Rd., and St. Paul St. North Smithfield, died Tuesday at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Theresa (Tetreault) Poitras Berard and the late Blanche (Leclair) Berard.
Mr. Berard was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Clovis and Juliette (Piche) Berard.
He was a meat cutter for Star Market for twenty four years retiring in 1988.

WOONSOCKET- Raymond P. McKenna, 72, of Bernon St, Woonsocket, died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Brenda F. (Plante) McKenna.
Born in Montreal, PQ, Canada, he was a son of the late Euclide "Edward" and Emeralda (DeCasse) McKenna. He was raised in Montreal and resided in Woonsocket for over 50 years.
Mr. McKenna was employed as a truck driver for Regency Inc. for many years.
