WOONSOCKET â In a surprise move, Governor Lincoln Chafee has filed a legal brief in support of Jason Wayne Pleau's appeal to quash a court order for him to surrender on federal charges stemming from the murder of a gas station manager â charges that could carry the death penalty.
WOONSOCKET â The four loud bangs heard just before 8 p.m. Thursday sounded like fireworks to Zuleyma Neco, 22, of 44 Florida St. But the noise actually turned out to be gunfire and Neco, in her apartment with her own small children and those of her mother, saw the aftermath of a crime when she looked out the window.
A car had backed into the side of her next-door neighborâs home after its 27-year-old driver was shot twice by someone in another car.
âIt scared us,â said Neco, who had been caring for her three children and her motherâs two children.
