Joseph Mark Regan
REHOBOTH- Joseph Mark Regan, 85, of Rehoboth, a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Madonna Manor Nursing Home, North Attleboro with his deeply beloved wife Dorothy (Mariani) Regan by his side. It was the morning of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 30, 1926, he was a son of the late John H. Sr. and Catherine (Elwood) Regan. Joseph was educated in Providence schools.

PAWTUCKET â The PawSox players and staff couldnât vacate the McCoy Stadium grounds fast enough Sunday evening.
After holding on for a 4-3 win against Buffalo, the PawSox put the unofficial first half (91 of 143 games) behind them and will use the next three days to regroup mentally. Baseball, a staple for all involved parties since the start of spring training in mid-February, plans take a back seat to vacation getaways and family reunions.
PAWTUCKET â The type of season Ryan Lavarnway is enjoying tends to open the door to possibilities down the road, one being a September call-up.
Right now Lavarnway prefers to let his bat do the talking. The power-hitting catching prospect went 3-for-4 with two home runs Sunday as the Pawtucket Red Sox ended the unofficial first half of the season with a 4-3 win against Buffalo.
BURRILLVILLE - Rick Finlayson, for 13 years the golf professional and general manager of the Country View Golf Club in Burrillville, offers a simple reason why throngs of players gravitate to his course.
âItâs affordable, we have a friendly staff and itâs a challenge for all types of players - beginners, intermediate and advanced players,â he said.
Country View G.C., located on 49 Club Lane off Route 7, about a 25-minute drive from Providence, is a moderately-challenging Par 70 course that measures 6,067 yards from the back tees and 5,060 yards from the ladiesâ tees.
PROVIDENCE â A couple of family members, a cousin and even his coach graduated or are still attending Brown University.
Despite all those connections, David Kahn had never been to Providence until this weekend.
But the 27-year-old Long Island triathlete, a recent dental school graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, sure made his first visit to the capital city worthwhile on Sunday with a wire-to-wire victory at the fourth annual Amica Ironman 70.3 triathlon. Kahn finished the race â a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run â with a time of 4 hours, 52 seconds.
PAWTUCKET â With R.I. Environmental Police Officer Mark Saunders giving careful watch on the fifth-floor roof of City Hall, wildlife intern Ashley Hopkins slowly opened the lid to the special cardboard box.
Perhaps four seconds later, one female falcon appeared, began flapping her wings and coasted west towards The Pawtucket Times building.
A split second later, her kid brother followed suit, but headed east, eventually landing on top of an Armory tower.
BURRILLVILLE â First Lieutenant Stephen Hopkins of 12th Regiment Rhode Island Infantry had only served four months in the Union Army when he was wounded at Fredericksburg, Va. in December of 1862. Less than two weeks later, Hopkins died of his wounds at the age of 25. Today, his headstone lies broken in a cemetery in Burrillville. A newly formed group is about to change that.
NORTH SMITHFIELD â The Pines Restaurant, a dining institution for the past 46 years, has undergone a serious makeover with the addition of the "Pines Pub," a 39-seat pub boasting six big-screen plasma televisions, a fully-stocked horseshoe bar and an exclusive pub menu offering everything from cheeseburgers to lobster rolls.
The new pub tops a long list of renovation and remodeling improvements that have either been completed or are in the process of getting started under the new management that came on board in March.

LINCOLN â Whether itâs a half or the full boat, a triathlon is a true test of oneâs mental and physical endurance, combining long-distance swimming, bicycling and running into a single event.
There will more than 1,300 amateur and professional athletes from 40 states and 20 countries at todayâs fourth annual Amica Ironman 70.3 triathlon â a 1.2-mile swim at Lincoln Woods, a 56-mile bike through the Blackstone Valley region and a 13.1-mile run that finishes at the R.I. State House. Among those participants is Hector Picard.
WOONSOCKET â The bouncer was already thinking about ejecting the drunk before the man showed the stripper a gun. Then he called the cops.
Derek Barron, 30, of Woonsocket, allegedly reached for the .357 Magnum in his pocket when police confronted him inside the Rhode Island Dolls lounge on Front Street shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday. Patrolmen Gregory Klocek and Anthony Conetta restrained Barron and took him into custody without further incident.
