WOONSOCKET - Ernest L. "Slim" Lesperance, 83, of Woonsocket, RI died Friday, January 7, 2011 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket, RI. He was born in Blackstone, MA son of the late Alexander and Mary (Carrigan) Lesperance.
He was a Union Painter and a member of the Painters Union.

Pauline E. (Dorval) Glaude 56, of Glaude LN, died peacefully at home on Friday, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with leukemia. She was the wife of Roland Glaude.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of Leona (Rousseau) Dorval of Cumberland and the late Emile Dorval. She was a molder for the Polytop Corporation for many years before retiring in 2000. Pauline was a very positive woman who brought joy to all she met.

WOONSOCKET – It’s bad enough that the wins have come at a minimum this season – one league victory in the first seven games to be exact.
Now, head coach Kyle Ivey-Jones and his Woonsocket High squad are playing with somewhat of a depleted roster. Minus a handful of players that have decided to call it quits this winter, including starting guard Jessie Charette, the Villa Novans came up short once again on Monday night.

eorge Briggs has been coaching track & field athletes for a long time and certainly knows that during the indoor season having depth is of the utmost importance.
This year, with the addition of the long jump, there are 13 events. It may seem like a lot, but if you are weak in a particular area that can create problems in pulling out a positive outcome against a formidable opponent.
Briggs and his Villa Novans found that out the hard way in a Northern Division meet with neighboring rival Lincoln High last week.

PAWTUCKET — Academy Award nominees Viola Davis and Richard Jenkins are lending some Hollywood star power to the Mixed Magic Theatre’s year-long celebration of the 100th birthday of gospel singer Mahalia Jackson and a related series of events.
Davis, who grew up in Central Falls, and Jenkins, who spent many years at Providence’s Trinity Repertory Company and lives in Cumberland, have agreed to be honorary co-chairs as Mixed Magic kicks off its Arc of Events that centers around the legendary gospel great.

WOONSOCKET – Bernadette M. “Sue” Gariepy, 57, of Main St., Woonsocket, died Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 at home.
She was the daughter of Jeannine (Durocher) Belliveau of Woonsocket, and the late Armand Gariepy. She was born at the Naval Air Station at Quonset Point while her father was in the service.
