MSC girls' tennis team advances to Div. I finals

PAWTUCKET — In the end, it came down to the first doubles match, and on this day, the Mount St. Charles senior tandem of Emily Cardosa and Julia Martin were not going to be denied.
Not after already losing three times this year to the East Greenwich team of Kerri Whelan and Julia Waicberg. And certainly not with Mount desperately needing them to win their match in order to capture Thursday afternoon’s Division I semifinal-round affair at Slater Park.

Vegas-style Milk Fund event Nov. 9

WOONSOCKET – Two tart-tongued female impersonators will dish up an evening of Vegas-style song, dance and comedy in the Milk Fund’s first fundraiser of the year at the Coachmen’s Lodge in Bellingham on Nov. 9.
The featured performers are Kitty Litter and Sabrina Blaze, aka Stephen Hartley and Wayne Alan Hawkins. They’ve been selling out theater venues with their cross-dressing schtick and comic banter for years, including a number of shows in the local area.

Making strides against breast cancer

WOONSOCKET – Losing a family member to illness can leave a person feeling helpless, which hinders the process of coming to terms with that life-changing loss.
But there are ways to take proactive steps toward moving on, which also bring a sense of fighting back.
Noneajean McFarlane found that to be true this fall as she worked to organize a team in Sunday’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Roger Williams Park in Providence.
McFarlane, a Call graphic designer, decided to put together a team for the American Cancer Society fundraiser in light of her own losses last spring.

WOONSOCKET - Florence R. (Guilmette) Nadeau, 87, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Ballou Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert H. Nadeau. Born in Woonsocket on June 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Francois and Victoria (Dubois) Guilmette.
She was the loving mother of Jeannine F. Sonier of Woonsocket. She leaves her cherished 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Gerard Guilmette of Woonsocket and the late Valmire and Raymond Guilmette, Yvonne Peloquin and Jeannette Pellizzari.

WOONSOCKET - Ja Quann "Amari" Coyle, 22 Months of Woonsocket, passed away on Monday, October, 15, 2012, at Landmark Medical Center.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Twyla Coyle.
Amari had a smile that would melt your heart. He was an amazing little boy that had an infectious smile and amazing personality. He was nicknamed "our little Marine" by his grandfather.

Canada, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Malvina (St. Michel) Bergeron. Annette was a homemaker and spent most of her time taking care of her many nieces and nephews.

ABINGTON, PA. - Kenneth W. Lundvall, 71, of S. Abington died Saturday at Abington Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in Mendon, Ma. the son of John Lars Lundvall and Phebe Briggs Lundvall.
He graduated from Mendon High School, attended DeVry Technical Institute and Moody Bible Institute, and Bible Institute of New England. While living in Ma. he worked for 32 years for Commonwealth Gas Co. (now N-Star) as a natural gas dispatcher. He lived for 11 years in S. Abington Twp.

WOONSOCKET - Richard A. Laforest Sr. 68, of Second Ave. died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Katherine (Thompson) Laforest.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Walter and Marie Anne (Rainville) Laforest. Richard was a maintenance mechanic for the City of Woonsocket for over ten years before retiring. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier, he loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bingo player.
