EAST PROVIDENCE â€” East Providence had the spirit and emotion of Senior Night, an adrenaline rush from an energetic section of students rooting them on in the bleachers, and a six-game win streak on its side in Tuesdayâ€™s showdown at home with Mount St. Charles.
But the Mounties were able to overcome all that and grab one of their biggest victories of the season -- a win that snapped a tie for first place in the Division I-North standings with the Townies and gave them sole possession of the top spot.
WOONSOCKET â€” Vicki Connolly finally got justice Tuesday for her brutal murder at the hands of a Burrillville man in September 2007.
Michael A. Ducharme, 45, stood before Superior Court Judge Netti C. Vogel Tuesday afternoon and admitted to killing Connolly in the state Black Hut Management area of Burrillville shortly after she went missing in Woonsocket on Sept. 5, 2007.
Germain J. Dufresne
NO. SMITHFIELD- Germain J. Dufresne 96, died Monday at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Therese (Bergeron) Dufresne.
Born in St. Phillip, P Q Canada, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie-Anne (Frechette) Dufresne.
Mr. Dufresne was a textile worker for the Branch River Woolen Company for twenty seven years before retiring in 1972. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a former member of the Parkview Club.
Romeo G. Ethier
MILLVILLE, MA- Romeo G. Ethier, 77, of Thayer St., died October 21, 2012 at home with his family. He was the husband of Mary Jean (Couture) Ethier.
Born in Millville, MA he was the son of the late Mederic and Cora (Gagnon) Ethier. He was a resident of Millville since 1970.
Roger J. Dwyer
LINCOLN- Roger J. Dwyer of Lincoln passed away Monday October 22, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Anna Frances (Heslin) Dwyer.
Born on September 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Roger and Anna (Dowling) Dwyer.
Roger was a 1943 graduate of Woonsocket High School and 1946 graduate of Providence College. He was a recipient of the Madeline Daly Savaria Trophy as an outstanding athlete at Woonsocket High School and was member of the PC basketball team for 2 years.
Eugene J. Picard Jr.
CUMBERLAND- Eugene J. Picard Jr., 57, formerly of Cumberland, died October 9th.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son the late Eugene J. and Theresa (Carpenter) Picard Bozzo.
Mr. Picard was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.
His brother Robert J. Picard and his wife Kimberly of Johnston, his sisters Cynthia M. Colannino of Three Rivers, MA and Deborah A. Connors of Warwick, his nieces Meaghan E. Colannino, Abigail L. Gilbert, Lauryn T. Picard and Brooke E. Picard survive him.
