LINCOLN — Davies Tech head coach Victor Oliveira usually has an inkling as to how his squad will execute prior to a contest. It’s based on collective attitude, and how they’re conducting themselves.
On Wednesday afternoon, he had no doubt.

LINCOLN – A confident John Taylor told the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce Wednesday that Twin River will “absolutely” be able to compete with the planned Massachusetts casinos if the ballot questions to allow table games at the casino are approved by voters next week.
WOONSOCKET – The practice of voting for members of the School Committee will soon come to an end if voters approve a referendum question at the polls on Tuesday to make the panel’s members appointive.
Question 8 on the ballot would give the mayor the power to select members of committee subject to ratification of the City Council. That would make Woonsocket only the second city in the state where school committee members are appointed, after Providence.

CHEPACHET- Craig S. Shepherd, Jr., 34, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Chepachet, died October 17, 2012.
Craig was born in Woonsocket, he graduated from Ponaganset High School in 1996.
He was an avid sports fan who loved the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed gaming and outdoor sports.

As the 2012 election campaign enters its final week, a new poll shows the 1st District congressional campaign virtually deadlocked, with incumbent Democrat David Cicilline holding on to a slender one-point lead over Republican challenger Brendan Doherty.
The poll, taken for WPRI Channel 12 by Fleming & Associates, shows Cicilline with 42.6 percent of the vote to Doherty’s 41.6, with Independent David Vogel picking up 6.3 percent and 8.3 percent undecided.
