Kenneth W. Lundvall
ABINGTON, PA. - Kenneth W. Lundvall, 71, of S. Abington died Saturday at Abington Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in Mendon, Ma. the son of John Lars Lundvall and Phebe Briggs Lundvall.
He graduated from Mendon High School, attended DeVry Technical Institute and Moody Bible Institute, and Bible Institute of New England. While living in Ma. he worked for 32 years for Commonwealth Gas Co. (now N-Star) as a natural gas dispatcher. He lived for 11 years in S. Abington Twp.
Richard A. Laforest Sr.
WOONSOCKET - Richard A. Laforest Sr. 68, of Second Ave. died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Katherine (Thompson) Laforest.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Walter and Marie Anne (Rainville) Laforest. Richard was a maintenance mechanic for the City of Woonsocket for over ten years before retiring. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier, he loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bingo player.
Christopher M. Coley, Sr.
WOONSOCKET - Christopher M. Coley, Sr., 43, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of LaTanya M. (Palshan) Coley. Chris was born in Pawtucket, but lived in Woonsocket for most of his life. He was the son of the late Michael E. Coley and Marie I. (Cabica) Coley of Harrisville.
Jacqueline R. Carpenter
CUMBERLAND - Jacqueline R. (Anderson) Carpenter, 79, formerly of Abbott Run Valley Road died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at North Bay Manor, Smithfield. She was married 38 years to the late Cumberland Police Captain Jesse F. Carpenter.
Born in Attleboro, MA, a daughter of the late Donald P. Anderson, Sr. and the late Lillian (Buxton) Anderson, she had lived in Cumberland for over 50 years. She had many interests including horses, camping, needlework, quilting and painting. She was a member of Quilting Clubs and the 4-H Club.

LINCOLN â The fact that Mount St. Charles Academy has captured 14 championships (nine regular-season titles and five state crowns) since 2002 is a truly remarkable accomplishment.

WOONSOCKET â State Rep. Jon D. Brien, who launched a write-in campaign after being unseated in the primary, is challenging the man who defeated him to a series of debates.
With slightly more than three weeks to go before the general election, the city Democrat is asking Stephen M. Casey to participate in four debates before Nov. 6.
Casey dismissed the offer as a desperate ploy for attention.
âThe time for debate was before the primary,â said Casey. âI already defeated him in September and heâs not on the ballot.â
But Brien said heâll go solo if Casey doesnât show up.
LINCOLN â A 57-year-old woman was surprised by a man breaking into her Tall Wood Drive home Wednesday morning and quickly fled the dwelling, according to police.
âWe believe the suspect was not aware that the homeowner was at home,â Police Chief Brian Sullivan said later of the 9:30 a.m. incident.
The woman fled away from Tall Wood in the direction of nearby Route 295 south and called police regarding the break, Sullivan said.
PROVIDENCE (AP) â Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office says a Woonsocket man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault in two rape cases that had been unsolved for several years.
Armand Ferrio received a total of 40 years, with the balance suspended with probation.
The 25-year-old Ferrio must have no contact with the victims, undergo sex-offender counseling and register as a sex offender when released from the Adult Correctional Institutions.
Kilmartin's office says DNA led authorities to solve the cases.
WOONSOCKET â For an 18-month-old boy crushed under a piece of fallen furniture, death came in the blink of an eye Monday.
The boyâs grandmother told police she had been watching the boy up until the very moment the bookcase tipped over and fell on him.
âShe turned her back for a second to move something in a doorway that leads to the basement,â reported Patrolman Patrick Roy. âShe turned around and saw the wooden bookcase was now on top of the boyâs chest.â
