WOONSOCKET â€” Police said they risked crashing their cruisers on icy, snow-choked roads as they rushed to investigate a report of a disturbance involving a gun Saturday, and this was their reward: Two cops assaulted by a man who fabricated the story.
Jody Dilazzaro, 39, was charged with assaulting Officers James Cote and Justin Mowry, who were among several policemen who responded to Dilazzaroâ€™s Oakton Street residence about 6:40 p.m.
He was charged with two counts of assaulting public officials, resisting arrest, possession of an illegal knife and filing a fraudulent report of a crime.

CUMBERLAND- John M. Rabeck of Cumberland passed away unexpectedly at his residence.
Born June 1, 1952 in Woonsocket he was the son of Jennie (Tomczuk-Thompson) Rabeck of No. Smithfield and the late John Rabeck.
John was a Pharmacy Technician for area Hospitals he also was self-employed as a Internet web designer and authored many Internet articles on the subject of living with diabetes. He was a graduate of CCRI and the New England Institute of Technology.
Christine L. Cortis
CHEPACHET- Christine L. (Hunt) Cortis, 58, of Chepachet, passed away peacefully on Friday at the Home & Hospice Care Center in Providence with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Alfred "Pete" J. Cortis Jr.
Born May 7, 1954 in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Harold & Margaret (Marmaud) Hunt.
Christine was employed as a assembler for S.M.T.C. of Foxconn Co. in Milford until illness.
Theresa D. Hebert
LINCOLN- Theresa D. Hebert 88, of Sayles Hill Rd. died peacefully, Sunday December 30, 2012 at The Holiday with her daughters by her side. She was the wife of the late Normand Hebert to whom she had been married for fifty six years.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Alderic and Alice (Grenon) Laverdiere. Theresa was an accounting clerk for CVS for many years before retiring in 1974.
Rita R. Dupont
LINCOLN- Rita R. Dupont, 93, passed peacefully December 29, 2012 at Mount St. Rita Health Center. She was the wife of the late Rene Dupont Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, Rita was the daughter of the late Amateur and Rosianne (Raymond) Plouffe.
She had been employed as a textile worker in the Blackstone Valley area for many years. Rita lived most of her life in Central Falls before moving to Lincoln ten years ago and was a Communicant of St. Jude Church. She had a passion for family, friends and bingo.
Diane M. Messier
STRUTHERS, OHIO- Diane M. Messier, 76, died early Saturday morning, December 29, 2012 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Messier was born December 8, 1936 in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of Isadore and Georgianna Roy Rondeau.
She lived in Rhode Island until moving to Savannah, GA in 1978, and later to Struthers, Ohio in 1998.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Jean L. Fortune 81, resident of North Smithfield died December 24, 2012 at her residence.
She was the wife to the late Harvey Fortune Jr.
Born April 17, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of the late Jesse & Gladys (Rainville) Carpenter.
Jean worked for General Motors for many years. She was a resident of North Smithfield formerly she lived in Ct. Jean enjoyed riding horses.
