WOONSOCKET – Three men got caught breaking into a house Tuesday after they mistakenly believed no one was home after ringing the doorbell.
The downstairs tenant of the two-family at 387 Park Place was indeed home, however; he simply didn’t answer the doorbell because he didn’t recognize the individual ringing it, he told police.
Moments later, the tenant saw two men scaling the balcony to the second story of the home and he heard their footsteps after they allegedly forced their way in through a window.
WOONSOCKET – Anita Wilbur had no idea why she’d been summoned to Harris Hall, but when she found out it nearly brought a tear to her eye.
As Wilbur watched, city officials unveiled the 2012 installment of the municipal Christmas ornament, a glass sphere featuring an image of the Place Jolicoeur World War I monument.
The Cumberland Street monument, whose prominent Christian cross was attacked as unconstitutional by a Wisconsin atheist group earlier this year, was named for Jolicoeur’s uncle over 90 years ago.
Henry A. Dulude Jr.
MILFORD MA- Mr. Henry A. Dulude Jr., 77, of Falmouth MA and formerly of Milford MA, died Thursday (December 6, 2012) at his daughters residence in Milford. He was the loving husband of Shirley M. (Guido) Dulude.
Mr. Dulude was born in Woonsocket RI, the son of the late Henry A. and the late Marie (Dumas) Dulude.
He was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the US Navy and was an avid sports fan who had played for the Rhode Island Relics hockey team.
Pauline R. Aubin
CRANSTON- Aubin, Pauline R. (Beauparlant), 66, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert C. Aubin and a daughter of Rita Beauparlant-Cousineau and the late Rene Beauparlant.
Estelle D. Lapierre
WOONSOCKET- Estelle D. (Beaudet) Lapierre, 66, of Logee St, died November 19, 2012 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of Richard C. Lapierre whom she married November 4, 1967.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Germaine (Lauziere) Beaudet.
Mrs. Lapierre worked for several area mills, including most recently for Tupperware, where she was employed as a molder. She was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church and enjoyed travelling and spending time with her grandchildren.
PROVIDENCE - The game changed on an alley-oop.
Rhode Island freshman Jordan Hare rose above the Providence College defense to emphatically finish a perfectly executed play with 15 minutes, 22 seconds left in the second half to cut the Friars' lead to five.
As it turned out, the alley-oop was the best thing that happen to PC because Friar coach Ed Cooley opted to eschew his zone defense against the athletic Rams and play man-to-man. Over the next 8 minutes, 21 seconds the Rams didn't make a basket, went 0-for-8 from the field and committed six turnovers in a 72-57 defeat.
PROVIDENCE – In the end, Bryce Cotton suited up for the Providence Friars. The real surprise came in the role he played Thursday night against intrastate rival Rhode Island.
PROVIDENCE – Dan Hurley spent time under the same roof as one of his former high school players Thursday night. In his private moments, the URI head coach was probably thrilled that Sidiki Johnson was sitting on Providence’s bench wearing a sharp black suit rather than basketball attire.
