MANVILLE - Roland B. Durocher, 87, of Central St., Manville died Saturday morning at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Pauline A. (LeClerc) Durocher. They were married on July 5, 1975.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Napoleon and Eva (Lajoie) Durocher. He resided in Manville for most of his life having also lived in Pawtucket and Central Falls for about 20 years.
Mr. Durocher served in the Army during WWII.

RICHMOND, VA - KORNSTEIN, Arnold I., 84, of Richmond, formerly of Woonsocket and Providence, Rhode Island, passed away, after a brief illness, on December 14, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Esta Strong Kornstein; three children, Dr. Michael J. Kornstein (Ann Kaplan), Dr. Susan G. Kornstein (Lee B. Krumbein), Dr. Howard S. Kornstein (Natalia Gourari); seven grandchildren, Sara Lerner (Matt), Joanna Kornstein, Samuel, Orly, and Benjamin Kornstein and Nathan and Iris Krumbein.

WOONSOCKET - Rita A. (Dubois) Beaulieu, 82, of Elmore Ave. died peacefully on Thursday December 13, 2012, in the Holiday Nursing Home, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Lucien W. Beaulieu. Rita and Lucien, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on February 3, 2012.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of Alfred and Alice (Brule) Dubois.
Rita worked as a Stitcher, for Stalan Sportswear and Narragansett Knitting, for several years prior to retiring.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends.

CUMBERLAND - Dorothy L. (Morton) Fearing, 95, of Mayflower Drive, died Tuesday December 11, 2012 in the Mount St. Rita Health Center, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Glenn C. Fearing. Dorothy and Glenn celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on August 17th.
Born in Harveyville, Kansas, daughter of the late William and Susie (Miller) Morton.
She worked as a Food Service Supervisor for several years prior to retiring.

WOONSOCKET - Jeannine G. Crepeau 75, of Woonsocket, died November 9, 2012. She was the wife of Romeo H. Crepeau, and mother of Roger R. and Robert N. Crepeau and Suzanne Kendzierski.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket.

WOONSOCKET - Pauline F. Laperle 81 of Morse Ave. died Friday at Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Urbain F. Laperle.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Amanda (Brodeur) Croteau. Pauline was a homemaker and spent much of her time babysitting. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.

For those in the sports’ media business, there’s no beating around the bush – reporting Rhode Island high school hockey is always a game of catch-up.
Translation: Game takes place late Friday night; game doesn’t hit the newspaper pages until Sunday. Such a cycle repeats Saturday with Monday’s edition representing the earliest chance to get something on the record.

North Smithfield Athletic Association reaches out to schools, community

NORTH SMITHFIELD — The name has changed, but the mission remains the same for the North Smithfield Athletic Association.
Formerly known as the Northmen Athletic Club, and back on the scene after a year’s hiatus, the NSAA, which is headed by former longtime girls’ hockey coach Bill Nangle, is looking to not only again support the town’s middle and high school sports teams, but also the community’s recreational programs.

City to ask state for extension to do audit

WOONSOCKET — Despite the reluctance of finance officials, the Budget Commission has voted to petition the state auditor general to allow the city an extra month to submit audited financial statements of last year’s books, or until Jan. 31.
Finance Director Thomas Bruce wanted to put out a draft audit as soon as possible because, on the city side, the ledgers are expected to show a surplus in the range of $280,000 for the fiscal year that ended June 30.
