WOONSOCKET â Itâs time for the public to weigh in on Steward Health Care Systemâs offer to buy Landmark Medical Center.
The two state agencies in charge of approving the sale have announced that they have begun accepting written comments on the proposal.
In a joint statement, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and David Fine, director of the state Department of Health, said an open hearing has also been scheduled for the purpose of disseminating information about the proposed sale and gathering feedback on it from interested parties.
Gabrielle L. Tancrede
BURRILLVILLE- Gabrielle L. Tancrede, 83, resident of Pascoag, formally of Nasonville, passed away on February 27, 2012 at the Overlook Nursing Home.
She was the loving wife of 58 years to the late Armand A. Tancrede.
She was born on April 25, 1928 in Woonsocket RI, a daughter to the late Henry and Emma (Richard) Henault.
Gabrielle worked for the former Sadwin's Curtain Manufacturing, as a mender for 32 years, retiring when she 62 years old. She was a resident of Nasonville for many years, previously a resident of Woonsocket.
Loretta Zarzycki
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Loretta "Lori" (Leblanc) Zarzycki, 94, of Mendon Road, North Smithfield, died Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Ste. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the devoted wife to her husband of 45 years, Stanley J. Zarzycki, who died in 1985.
She lived in the house in which she was born on Huntington Avenue, in Woonsocket all of her life until recently moving to Gatewood Apartments in North Smithfield, RI.
She was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Lucie (Coulomb) Leblanc.
Gertrude S. Rivard
WOONSOCKET- Gertrude S. Rivard 90, of Pond St. died Friday at the Friendly Home.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Mathias and Anne Marie (Charette) Rivard.
She worked as an assembler for General Electric for twenty two years before retiring. Gert was an avid card player and also loved to fish, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her close friend Margie Richer at her summer home at Horseneck Beach overlooking the ocean.
LINCOLN â A weekend break in a 20-inch water main had Old River Road closed to traffic Monday as work to repair the leak continued late into the night.
The affected line carries drinking water up from North Providence and supplies a standpipe in Manville but most local services could be rerouted, according to John Faile, town water superintendent.
As a result, only 3 to 4 homes were reported to be without water as the repair was under way Monday, Faile said.
WOONSOCKET â When Evo âCurlyâ Donnini christened it âHampton Courtâ in 1972, the upper deck of his famous Ciroâs Restaurant was already in a time warp â in a good way.
The late founder of Ciroâs envisioned Hampton Court as a sort of Tudor-inspired rendition of a medieval, English castle, circa King Edward III, and he spared no expense in getting the details right. He covered the walls with lavish, oak paneling imported from England, hung hand-crafted chandeliers from the ceiling and plunked French crystal on the tables beside sterling silver dinner utensils.

BURRILLVILLE â The script from Monday nightâs Division I playoff game between the Burrillville/Ponaganset co-op team and North Smithfield read the same as the one from the previous two games of their best-of-three series.
For the third straight game, the Broncos kept the majority of the action in the Northmenâs end of the rink and outshot them by a better than 3-to-1 ratio, and for the third straight game, N.S. goaltender Britney Evangelista frustrated the Broncos with another superb performance.
When it comes to predicting who will play for the three state championships on March 10 at the Ryan Center, it shouldnât take a lot of thought.
In Division I, all signs point to the two unbeaten teams, defending champion La Salle and rival Bay View. In Division II, you can take your pick among the Northâs Moses Brown (17-1) and the Southâs Narragansett and Rogers (each 16-2), and in Division III, unbeaten Juanita Sanchez and defending champ Middletown (16-3) are the clear-cut favorites.

Lesperance
PALM BAY, FL- Christopher J. Lesperance, 84, of Palm Bay FL and formerly of Millville, MA, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Blackstone, MA on January 23, 1928, he was a son of the late Ovila and Mary (Reilly) Lesperance.
He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Pauline (Bourgery) Lesperance. His son Christopher Lesperance predeceased him in 2005.
