BLACKSTONE- Edward "Chico" Ciccone, 86, died Monday, February 6, in the Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge. His wife, Juliette (Robidoux) Ciccone, died in 1991.
He is survived by a half brother, Jimmie Ciccone, of Woonsocket, RI; two half sisters, Mary Ellen Mercure, of Blackstone, and Linda Orlando, of Woonsocket; a cousin, Thomas Ciccone, of Whitinsville, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ciccone was born in Boston, May 21, 1925, the son of Louis and Hilda (Hiltz) Ciccone, and lived in Blackstone until moving to Uxbridge in 2009.
SLATERSVILLE- Joseph Alphonse St. Hilaire, 95, of School Street, Slatersville, died Monday February 6, 2012 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Marie Louise (Pacheco) St. Hilaire, whom he married, May 13, 1973.
Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Omer and Florida (Berger) St. Hilaire.
Mr. St. Hilaire was a night supervisor for the former Imperial Knife in Providence for 17 years, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Slatersville.
Steve Gordon has been coaching Cumberland Highâs wrestling program since time began. Well, not quite. Just since he got the program started back in 1969. Thatâs 43 years, if youâre counting.
The 70-year-old coach spent many of those early years trying to build his program from the ground floor up, creating a wrestling community in Cumberland, one or two parents at a time, that formed the foundation for his program.
Gordon learned a lot from the Coventry High School wrestling program, a dynasty that produced 17 straight state championship teams between 1982-98.
WOONSOCKET â Bullied at school, erroneously diagnosed with bipolar disorder and treated with a correspondingly wrongheaded cocktail of prescription drugs, Adam Brunetti arrived at a harrowing crossroads by the time he was in the sixth grade at Woonsocket Middle School in 2006.
No wonder he doesnât remember much of it.
âI pretty much blacked the whole thing out,â he says matter-of-factly.
FOSTER- Mildred Cynthia (Mowry) Auclair, 95, died peacefully at Alpine Nursing Home, Coventry on Saturday February 4, 2012.
She was born in Woonsocket to Alpheus and Susan (Ballou) Mowry. Mildred will now be joined in heaven with her beloved late husband, Edward Omer Auclair.
PROVIDENCE- Gertrude Halpern died Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Providence. She would have been 100 years old on March 8, 2012.
She is survived by her nephews, Stanley and Jason Goldstein and Robert Halpern, nieces, Marjorie Bean and Beverly Goldberg, great-nephews, Gene, Larry and Mark Goldstein, great-niece, Nancy Dunn and her devoted caregiver, Peggy Comforti.
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Julia (Dankow) Manlick, 91, a resident of the St. Antoine Residence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, at the Residence. she was the loving wife of the late John S. Manlick.
Born July 4, 1920 in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Peter & Cristine (Dobrwado) Dankow, she resided in No. Smithfield almost all her life.
She was employed as a sewer at the former Health-Tex Co. for many years before retiring. She was a longtime communicant and very active in the Ladies Sodality at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Woonsocket.
BLACKSTONE- Gertrude M. (Deragon) Martinelli, 86, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife for 68 years of Louis J. Martinelli.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Aram and Evelyn M. (Lamontagne) Deragon.
Alice T. Lambert
WOONSOCKET- Alice T. (Ouellet) Lambert of Woonsocket, RI, died on February 4, 2012 in the McCarthy Care Center, Sandwich, MA. She was the wife of the late Jean-Paul Lambert for almost seventy years.
Born in Woonsocket, Alice was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Leona (Payette) Ouellet. She resided in Woonsocket for most of her life and had relocated to Cape Cod two and a half years ago, moving into the Whitehall Estates in Hyannis with her husband.
Alfred Tarvis, Jr.
WOONSOCKET- Alfred Tarvis, Jr., 73, of Stoneham Drive, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of thirty-eight years of the late Rita (Bourget) Tarvis.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alfred R. and Catherine (Biadas) Tarvis.
