On a Friday evening these days, just a handful of members belonging to the Alphonse Yelle Post No. 9 of the American Legion get together at the Post Home at 20 Railroad St.
The reasons they gather together haven't really changed since the post was founded by Manville soldiers returning home from World War I, but it does seem fewer of today's returning warriors have the time or willingness to maintain lasting friendships at a post.

Mount St. Charles forced a third and deciding game in its best-of-three State Championship title series with Bishop Hendricken on Saturday night before another large crowd at Providence College’s Schneider Arena.
Steve Donahue’s goal 1:12 into the third period and goalie Brian Larence’s spectacular 34-save effort were the differences in the Mounties’ crucial 3-2 win that kept their quest for a fifth straight state title (and 43rd in the team’s storied history) alive.
