Chafee unveils municipal reform plan

PAWTUCKET — Standing in the City Hall of one of the “highly distressed communities” that he is hoping to aid, Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee unveiled his proposal of a legislative package aimed at reforming municipal pension plans run by the State and by cities and towns and providing other types of financial relief from state mandates.

WOONSOCKET- Mary F. (Brothers) Bebeau 85, of Knollwood Dr. died March 15, 2012, at Mt St. Rita Health Center. She was the wife of the late Roger L. Bebeau.
Born in Millville, MA she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Josephine C. (Daley) Brothers.
Mary was a graduate of the former Hill College. She was formerly employed by McCarthy's Department Store and Michael's Jewelers.

Main Street is getting its own manager

LINCOLN- Robert D. "Boomer" Gouin, 89, of Old River Road, Manville died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Claire (Allard) Gouin.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Denis and Melinda (Heroux) Gouin, he had lived in Manville for the past 45 years.
Mr. Gouin was the owner of Denis Market, Manville for 62 years before retiring. He was a member of the Independent Grocers Association.

WOONSOCKET- Sheila M. (Keefe) Roberts, 58, of Woonsocket RI, died Wednesday (March 14, 2012) at Oakland Grove Healthcare Center in Woonsocket RI after an illness.
Sheila had been a resident of Woonsocket RI for over twenty-five years and had worked as a special education teacher for Blackstone Valley Baptist Academy and had been employed at RIARC.

WOONSOCKET- Theresa L. (Manigan) Peloquin, 85, of Edmund St., died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. She was the wife of Roger J. Peloquin, Sr., whom she married April 10, 1948.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late James and Mathilda (Gallant) Manigan, Sr.
Mrs. Peloquin worked as an Inspector for AT Cross, Lincoln and had also worked for Polytop Corp., No. Smithfield. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Choir and loved to travel and dance.
