WOONSOCKET â Mayor Leo T. Fontaine says heâs advised the major employees unions representing police, fire and teachers that he might ask them for a 10 percent pay cut to help close a $10 million gap in the School Departmentâs budget.
But whether he follows through depends on what happens tonight, when the City Council takes up a resolution to borrow some $4.3 million on the anticipation of collecting supplemental taxes.
WOONSOCKET â When police arrested 27-year-old Maurice Godin on drug charges last week, they didnât just get their man.
They got the last laugh.
Strange as it seems, Godin made no effort to keep his illicit behavior a secret from the authorities. On the contrary, police say he had a history of boasting directly to police officers about being a âgood drug dealerâ and sometimes berated them for being unable to catch him.
Robert P. Biagetti
WOONSOCKET- Robert P. Biagetti, 56, passed away Monday, March, 19 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alvaro and Lauretta (Sylvestre) Biagetti. He resided in Woonsocket for most of his life, previously residing in Lincoln.
Mr. Biagetti was employed as an Machinist for the Senior Aerospace Metal Bellows of Sharon, MA for 35 years.
Mr. Biagetti was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, but most of all loved fishing.
ELIZABETH, CO- William James Marshall III, (Billy), 65, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, March 13th at The Denver Hospice in Colorado. He was the husband of Irene (Masse) Marshall for 46 years and they lived in Elizabeth, CO.
He was born to the late William James Jr. and Dorothea (Gryzboska) Marshall on December 27, 1946 in Milford, MA.
Marcel A. Lariviere
MANVILLE- Marcel A. Lariviere, 59, of Railroad St., Manville, died Friday evening at Woonsocket Health Center.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Gaston and Jeannette (Beatrice) Lariviere. Marcel was a lifelong resident of Manville.
He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1971.
Marcel worked as an auto mechanic and also as a landscaper for B&L Landscape of Manville.
Lionel H. Belisle
WOONSOCKET- Lionel H. Belisle, 85, died Monday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Alice L. (L'Heureux) Belisle. They were married on June 16, 1956.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Alberic and Amanda (Tardif) Belisle. He remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Belisle was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy, Class of 1945.
Following graduation Mr. Belisle served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Belisle was employed by the federal government as a defense contract administrator working in Boston for over 30 years.
Daun Alan White
MANNING, SC - Daun Alan White, 62, formerly of Glocester, husband of 42 years to Karen Rose (Orcutt) White, died February 24, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
