WOONSOCKET- Sharon M. Mancuso 74, of St. Cecile Ave. passed away Tuesday at Oakland Grove Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Michael Mancuso.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Frank and Olive (Andrews) Reed. Sharon was a homemaker and a devout catholic. She loved her cats and Archie comic books.
Lillian M. Laquerre
BLACKSTONE- Lillian M. (Delong) Laquerre, 89, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge, MA with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Laquerre.
WOONSOCKET â After collecting national honors for her role as a Woonsocket High School science teacher, you wouldn't think Claire Laquerre would be worried about whether she might still have her job next year.
LINCOLN â It was pretty much on a whim that Jillian DeSimone even picked up a lacrosse stick.
As a Lincoln High freshman back in the fall of 2008, she played girls' varsity soccer, and even earned a letter for her rather solid play. A few months later, as spring approached, her dad, Louis, suggested she try out for the school's lacrosse program.
Claire L. Lawrence
CHEPACHET- Claire L. (Levesque) Lawrence, "Nana" 68, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of Donald Lawrence Sr. of Chepachet, whom she married Mar. 27, 1963.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Yvon Bob and Evelyn (Searles) Levesque.
Lauretta P. Peloquin
POMONA PARK FLORIDA- Lauretta P. Peloquin of Pomona Park Florida passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at Lakewood Nursing Center in Crescent City Florida.
Lauretta enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren. Lauretta was born on Jan. 30, 1938, in Woonsocket, R. I. to the late Charles & Loretta Glode. Lauretta owned & operated Bob's Auto Body & Blackstone Motors with her late husband; she also worked for the State of R. I. as a cook at Woonsocket Public Schools for 23 yrs before retiring to Florida in 1995.
Shirley M. Laczynski
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Shirley M. Laczynski, 82, of North Smithfield, RI died March 19, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late Joseph Laczynski who died in 1990.
Born in Uxbridge, MA she was the daughter of the late Edwin Frisk and Dagmar A. (Sederback) LeClerc.
Alcide P. Lafleur
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Alcide P. Lafleur, 86, of Williams Street, North Smithfield passed away peacefully, March 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag, RI. He was the loving husband of Dolores G. (Levitre) Lafleur, and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past November.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on January 19, 1926, he was the oldest of three sons of the late Alcide J. Lafleur and the late Roseanna (Tessier) Lafleur.
WOONSOCKET â A supplemental tax bill would be an unwelcome burden and a hardship to many city residents, but bankruptcy would certainly be worse.
That appears to have been the consensus among members of the City Council, who debated their options during a three-hour meeting last night.
PROVIDENCE â Invoking the tactics, the slogans and in some cases the costumes of Colonial America, opponents of Gov. Lincoln Chafeeâs 2 percent surtax on restaurant tabs tossed bags of tea into the muddy, mostly drained Waterplace Basin on Wednesday.
Declaring that Rhode Island suffers âtaxation without competent representation,â the protesters decried the negative effects they believe the tax would have not only on restaurants, but on the entire economy of the state.
