WOONSOCKET — The City Council has posted notice of a special meeting on Wednesday during which the panel will consider legislation empowering the city to pass a supplemental tax bill to help plug a $10 million hole in the School Department's budget.

WOONSOCKET – The name of John Baccaire's company is Coventry Building and Wrecking, but he will tell you his business is actually just another way to recycle.
Baccaire and his daughter, Project Manager Kim Baccaire, have been busy this winter overseeing the “recycling” of the former French Worsted Mill complex off Hamlet Avenue and have reached a milestone in the massive undertaking.

But a group of seniors from the high school now knows just reading about a defining moment in history, or researching media coverage about it, isn't enough to give true understanding of the impact it had on those experiencing it.

LINCOLN — Fielding phone calls, requests and inquiries from collegiate softball coaches are nothing new to Mark and Marie Mayer, the parents of Lindsay Mayer, Lincoln High's magnificent junior shortstop.
They actually started during her eighth-grade year; that's when University of South Florida head coach Ken Erikson asked Mark and Marie if they would bring their daughter to the Tampa campus so they could meet.

PAWTUCKET — Standing in the City Hall of one of the “highly distressed communities” that he is hoping to aid, Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee unveiled his proposal of a legislative package aimed at reforming municipal pension plans run by the State and by cities and towns and providing other types of financial relief from state mandates.

WOONSOCKET- Mary F. (Brothers) Bebeau 85, of Knollwood Dr. died March 15, 2012, at Mt St. Rita Health Center. She was the wife of the late Roger L. Bebeau.
Born in Millville, MA she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Josephine C. (Daley) Brothers.
Mary was a graduate of the former Hill College. She was formerly employed by McCarthy's Department Store and Michael's Jewelers.

Robert D. Gouin
LINCOLN- Robert D. "Boomer" Gouin, 89, of Old River Road, Manville died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Claire (Allard) Gouin.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Denis and Melinda (Heroux) Gouin, he had lived in Manville for the past 45 years.
Mr. Gouin was the owner of Denis Market, Manville for 62 years before retiring. He was a member of the Independent Grocers Association.
