âThis is it,â he told them, referring to the Tigersâ 2-1 cushion. âTheyâve got 9-1-2 (the ninth, first and second batters) coming up! Weâve got to get out of this inning!â

WARWICK- Dorthy L. (Jahnke) Crook, age 84, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

DOUGLAS/UXBRIDGE- Michael E. Nelson, 68 longtime Douglas and Uxbridge resident died unexpectedly at home on Wed. April 18. His wife Jean M. (Sampson) Nelson died in 1999.
He is survived by two daughters Kristine A. and her husband Matthew Murello of Long Valley NJ, and Amy E. and her husband Christopher Nadeau of Douglas; 5 grandchildren, Christian, Jess, Nicholas, Olivia, Kyla; his brother Bruce R. and his wife Nancy Nelson of Chepachet, RI; his fianc
WOONSOCKET- Nazare (Matias) Pedro, 95, of East School St. St. Germain Manor, died April 19, 2012, in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anacleto Pedro.
Born in Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Matias.
Nazare worked as a housekeeper for the former Woonsocket Hospital, now Landmark Medical Center and as a stitcher for Fashion Sportswear until retiring.
She was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union.
Edward J. LeBlanc Jr.
WORCESTER- Edward J. LeBlanc Jr., 87, of 26 Harvard St. formerly of North Smithfield, died April 11, 2012 in the Lutheran Healthcare Center, Worcester.
Born in Slatersville, R.I. son of the late Edward J. and Blanche (Marceau) LeBlanc.
He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in WW11.
Mr. LeBlanc worked as a Painter for M. L. McDonalds, in Boston, until retiring.
He was a former member of the VFW Post 1273 in Central Falls.
John S. Lemek
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- John S. Lemek, 90 of last residence, Las Vegas, Nevada, died on January 21, 2012.
John was one of seven children, had is survived by one sister, Loretta Heroux.
Denise Caccavale/Lemek had been his caretaker for the past 3 years.
Denis and Denise are the children of John and Jeannine.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Church on May 2nd at 9:00 am.
All attendees are invited to attend, and would hope that all will join his family In the celebration of his life following the service.

Rose Eva Depot
PAWTUCKET- Rose Eva (Beauvais) Depot, 84, of Pond Street, passed away Wednesday, April 18, at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Conrad L. Depot.
Born in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Leona (Fleurant) Beauvais. She resided in Pawtucket for the past 25 years, previously residing in Manville.
WOONSOCKET â A city woman got in a car accident in Smithfield Wednesday morning while driving the vehicle of a man who was later found dead in his apartment in Johnston, according to state police.
Dawn E. Utting, 45, of 75 Union St., was arraigned in Kent County District Court Thursday on charges of failure to report a certain death, reckless driving and operating on a suspended license. She was ordered held without bail at the ACI pending a hearing as a probation violator on a prior domestic disorderly conduct charge.
WOONSOCKET â Plastic bags of litter dangle neatly from the branches of trees. Scavenged bits of furniture are arranged into makeshift outdoor dining nooks, beside the tents. Nearby, a green-necked duck splashes down in the Blackstone River, looking for the expected handout.
âWe have our animal friends,â says Ray Greeno. âWeâre happy here.â
A Vietnam veteran whoâs been homeless for months, Greeno, 57, has been living in a tent on the banks of the Blackstone River since the beginning of the month, when the overnight shelter at Harvest Church closed for the season.
