WOONSOCKET — When athletic director George Nasuti talks about “Novan Pride,” he’s referring to something that hopefully hits home for anyone who’s ever been touched by athletics in the Woonsocket School System.
WOONSOCKET — Though the supplemental tax legislation is not officially dead, it’s dead enough for the state to begin gearing up for Plan B — the imposition of a budget commission to take over the city’s finances.
Finance Director Tom Bruce told The Call Wednesday that State Revenue Director Rosemary Booth Gallogly and city officials will mount a last-ditch effort to revive supplemental taxes in the House, but Gallogly is already making preparations to seat a budget commission for the city if the effort falters.

NORTON, MA- Robert K. Fortune, 30, died Saturday May 12, 2012 at his home in Norton, MA.
Born in Providence he was the son of Roger A. Fortune Jr. and his wife Debra of Chepachet and the late Luanne T. (Cullerton) Fortune.
He worked as a Manager for Burger King and also worked for Polseno Mike A. & Sons Fancy Apples of Pascoag. He was a 1999 graduate of Ponagansett High School. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, his woodshop and basketball.

Crawford, Sr.
BELLINGHAM- Allen G. Crawford, Sr., 77, of Bellingham, MA for 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital, Stoughton, MA with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Joan E. (Tabor) Crawford.
Born in Weymouth, MA on May 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Stanley G. and Lillian Rose (Dow) Crawford of Quincy and was raised by the late Jessie and Preston Farrington of Franklin.
Alfred Poxon
BLACKSTONE, MASS- Alfred (Jack) Poxon 82 Formerly of NH died May 2, 2012 at the Blackstone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 13, 1930 in Woonsocket, RI and was the son of the late Ernest and Rose A (Reynolds) Poxon.
Alfred was a horse trainer who traveled the racing circuit along the East Coast for most of his career and retiring from the Rockingham Racetrack in NH.
He was the former husband of the late Bella (Rue) Poxon.
