Doris M. Bligh

WOONSOCKET- Doris M. (Langelier) Bligh, 90, of Woonsocket, died June 14, 2012 in Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late William F. Harrigan and the late James J. Bligh.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Brodeur) Langelier.
Doris was a 1940 graduate of Blackstone High School. She worked for 15 years as an inspector for the A. T. Cross Company, Lincoln retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Woonsocket. Doris enjoyed traveling.

WOONSOCKET- Madeleine S. Governo, 71, of 100 Front St. died Thursday at Landmark Medical Center.
She was born in Pawtucket a daughter of the late Joseph and Florina (Blain) Governo. Madeleine was a customer service representative for CD Burns for twenty two years before retiring in 2002.
She is survived by a daughter Vanessa Governo of Woonsocket, a brother Joseph Governo Jr. of Blackstone, MA, three sisters Dolores Masse of Woonsocket, Theresa Seagrave of Mapleville, and Suzanne Landry of Pawtucket, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BLACKSTONE- Lionel J. Gagnon, 85, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Bureau) Gagnon.
Born in Blackstone, MA on November 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Wilbrod and Evea (Fleurant) Gagnon.

Fontaine: Chafee promises not to veto Landmark legislation

WOONSOCKET -- Mayor Leo Fontaine announced Friday that Gov. Lincoln Chafee has assured him that he will not veto legislative changes to the Hospital Conversions Act sought by Landmark Medical Center's prospective buyer, Steward Health Care of Boston.
Fontaine said he met with Gov. Lincoln Chafee on Thursday and told him that hospital officials were convinced the veto would kill the deal and hasten the demise of the struggling community hospital.
