PAWTUCKET – Justin Germano knows a decision lies ahead. Come Saturday night, the right-hander and de facto ace of Pawtucket’s pitching staff will take the mound in Lehigh Valley.
The following day, Germano will choose whether to stick with the PawSox for the rest of the season or seek employment with another club. If it’s the latter, Germano – named to the International League All-Star team earlier in the week – would have no shortage of suitors.
WOONSOCKET – A new application to convert stately St. Francis House into apartments has been filed by the same developer who already has a $3 million lawsuit pending against the city in a dispute over his rights to the property.
Gary Fernandes wants permission from the Zoning Board of Review to convert the former assisted living center into 18 apartments, 10 more than he is currently allowed.
LINCOLN – A gasoline explosion is believed to have caused injuries suffered by a 62-year-old Central Falls man and damaged a home at 22 Arch St. Thursday evening.
Patrolman Jason Bolduc found the victim, Harold Trazi, being assisted to by members of Rescue 4 when he arrived at the scene. Trazi suffered burns to his chest, arms and face from a fire believed to have started in the garage of the dwelling, Bolduc reported.

CUMBERLAND- Eugenia (Sulyma) Curran died on June 29, 2012, at Emerald Bay Manor Health Center, in Cumberland, RI.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, on December 16, 1923. Beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Curran.
Lea N. Dubois
LINCOLN- Lea N. (Mandeville) Dubois, 94, of Sayles Hill Road, Manville died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Emile V. Dubois.
Born in St. Joseph, Canada, a daughter of the late Francois and Anna (Pontbriand) Mandeville, she had lived in Manville for the past 89 years.
Mrs. Dubois was a battery hand at the former Manville-Jenks Company for many years before retiring.
She was a communicant of St. James Church, Manville.
Patricia A. Boucher
CUMBERLAND- Patricia A. (Curran) Boucher, 79, of Old Diamond Hill Rd., died June 28, 2012 in Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Cronin) Curran.
Patricia worked sixteen years for A.T. Cross, Lincoln, retiring in 1997. She was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church.

Henry Barrie
MECHANICSBURG, PA- Raymond Henry Barrie, 90, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Woonsocket, R. I. passed away peacefully on June 25, 2012, at Lebanon VA Medical Center.
He was born on September 16, 1921, in Woonsocket, R. I. to the late Amasa and Georgiana (Petrin) Barrie.
WOONSOCKET — A power struggle simmering between members of the School Committee erupted into a public debate Wednesday night as the panel, on a 3-2 split, voted to approve a bylaw change allowing removal of a sitting chair or vice chair of the panel by a majority vote of the members.
The resolution, introduced by School Committeeman John Donlon and supported by members Vimala Phongsavanh and Eleanor Nadeau, requires two passages by the panel to take effect.

WOONSOCKET — The state-appointed Budget Commission has hired Smithfield Town Solicitor Edmund L. Alves Jr. as its staff legal counsel.
Alves will be paid $175 per hour, minus a 15 percent discount the state has imposed on many of its employees. Though the budget commission was seated by the state, Woonsocket is responsible for Alves’ fees.
