LINWOOD/WHITINSVILLE- John L. Kurtyka Jr., 88 of 518 Providence Rd. died Mon. June 25 at Beaumont Nursing after an illness.
Elizabeth M. Grady
WHITINSVILLE- Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Bebe) Grady, 97, formerly of Delray Gardens and Pine St. died Wed. June 27 at Beaumont Nursing in Westboro after an illness. Her husband John T. "Bob" Grady St. died Dec. 6, 1965.
Joseph Brackett
BLACKSTONE- Joseph Brackett, 78, a lifelong resident of Blackstone, MA, lost his battle to Pulmonary Fibrosis on Monday evening in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Janet A. (Boisvert) Brackett.
A talented athlete, Joe was a standout player on his high school basketball and baseball teams. He carried his love for sports into his adulthood, as shown through his passion for golf. When not hitting the links, Joe was dedicated to caring for his wife and tending to his meticulous lawn and beautiful roses.
Curtis W. Degnan
BURRILLVILLE- Curtis W. Degnan, 43, passed at home with his family by his side on Tuesday June 26, 2012. He was the husband of Delia D. (Lopez) Degnan.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of Charles Degnan of Pascoag and the late Barbara (Pariseau) Degnan.
Curtis worked as a carpenter and a machinist for many years. He also served our country in the US Army.
Eva B. Lamoureux
PASCOAG- Eva B. (Champoux) Lamoureux, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Lamoureux.
Born in Woonsocket on November 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Phillias and Emma (Toupin) Champoux.

LAKELAND, FL- Romeo J. Peloquin, 85, died June 13, 2012 at home in Lakeland, Florida.
He was the husband of the late Madeleine (Riendeau) Peloquin.
Born in Manville, he was the son of the late Theodore and Alma (Dupuis) Peloquin.
He worked at Pratt Whiteney in Connecticut for many years before retiring to Lakeland Florida.
He was a retired 20 yr. Army Veteran of WW II, Korean, Vietnam War.
Lillian M. Andre
NEW BEDFORD- Lillian (Richard) Andre, age 81, of New Bedford and formerly of Cumberland, RI, passed away June 25, 2012 at Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late John L. Andre.
Born in Norwalk, CT, a daughter of the late Albert and Sadie (Marcouillier) Richard, she had lived in Cumberland, RI, followed by Florida for several years before moving to New Bedford a few years ago.
WOONSOCKET — The City Council approved a proposed $129 million city budget plan early Tuesday morning but not before engaging in a pitched debate over a projected $6,375 savings for keeping the River Island Park ice rink closed next winter.
The ice rink's operation was ultimately retained in the 2012-13 spending plan but will now have to survive the state-appointed Budget Commission's final action on the city's budget in the coming days.

WOONSOCKET — As the declaration period winds down today, five challengers have surfaced to run against incumbent lawmakers, with most targeting House members involved in the controversial sinking of the supplemental tax bill two weeks ago.
Stuart Gitlow, a psychiatrist from the North End, Michael Morin, a Woonsocket firefighter, and Michael Moniz, have all taken out papers to run against incumbent State Rep. Lisa Baldelli Hunt (D-Dist. 49).
