Bertha R. Montiero
MANVILLE -- Bertha R. Monteiro, 76, of Spring St. died Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was the wife of the late Earl "Mickey" Montiero.
Born in Newport, R.I. daughter of the late Miguel and Florence (Chabot) Monteiro. Bertha lived in Cumberland most of her life moving to Manville in 1995.

WOONSOCKET — The state-appointed Budget Commission running city finances granted first approval of the city's proposed $122 million budget for 2012-2013 even while conceding that figure does not appear to contain enough funding for local schools.
The commission will take up the proposal again next Thursday for second and final passage and its members voiced a hope that city and school officials will be able to improve the budget's accuracy by that time.

Mayor Donald R. Grebien, right, gets some help from City Councilor Christopher O'Neill, who represents District 3 where Slater Park is located, in christening one of several new paddleboats on Thursday. The boats will return to the park's Slater Pond on Saturday after a lapse of nearly a half-century. In lieu of champagne, a pink-ribboned bottle of spring water did the honors. The paddleboats, three of which are designed as swans, will be available at the boathouse from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through September. After Labor Day, the paddleboats will be available on weekends.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. --- Three straight singles with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning helped the Syracuse Chiefs score the run that produced a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Wednesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium.
Down by a 5-3 score heading into the home half of the ninth, the Chiefs tied the score by scoring twice off reliever Daniel Bard, who gave up a single and a double and only threw half of his 22 pitches for strikes. He did not walk or strike out anyone.
WARWICK – In Rhode Island, the fiscal year begins on the first day of July. To Ed Cooley, the date also signifies the first step the head coach, along with his assistants, will take in laying the foundation for the 2012-13 Providence College Friars.
EAST PROVIDENCE — On a day when Texas A&M University graduate Jordan Russell owned Wannamoisett Country Club, firing a phenomenal six-under 63 to lead the first round of the 51st Northeast Amateur Golf Tournament, the University of Central Florida's Brad Schneider proved to be the model of consistency.
LINCOLN — A kitchen vent fire at the town's Lincoln Manor housing complex on Franklin St. left nine seniors out of their homes on Tuesday.
The fire in a vent serving four apartments in the eight-unit, single-story building was quickly extinguished by local firefighters and none of the senior residents were hurt, according to the town's Housing Authority.

WOONSOCKET — The state-appointed Budget Commission will give an overview of the city's proposed $122 million budget when the panel convenes Thursday afternoon in historic Harris Hall beginning at 3 p.m.
The City Council held a public hearing on the budget plan during its meeting on Monday but deferred its comment to a work session in Harris Hall Thursday evening.
The Council will vote on its recommendation for a budget on Monday, leaving final action on the budget to Budget Commission possibly on June 29, according to City Finance Director Thomas M. Bruce III.
Claire H. Camp
WOONSOCKET- Claire H. Camp, 74, of Clinton St. Kennedy Manor, died Saturday June 16, 2012, in Oakland Grove Health Center. She was the wife of the late Ralph J. Camp.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Leo P. and Eva (Auclair) Bacon.
Claire was a Homemaker.
She was a member of the John F. Kennedy Senior Citizen Association.
She is survived by two brothers, Leo P. Bacon of Cumberland, and Roger Bacon of Blackstone, Mass. One sister Marie Dion of Woonsocket. Several Nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Audrey V. Reid
BELLINGHAM- Audrey V. (Brown) Reid, 89 of Cheshire, CT, formerly of Bellingham died June 19. She was the wife of Roy E.M. Reid.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter Fern Marilyn Simard, three grandchildren, one great grandchild.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11:a.m. in the Watson Colonial Funeral Home, 24 Congress St. Milford, MA. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11:a.m. To leave a condolence go to
