BURRILLVILLE â€” Itâ€™s been more than a decade since the Burrillville Major Division all-star team concluded pool play in the District IV playoffs with an unblemished mark, but thatâ€™s what the Blue & Gold did on Wednesday night at Sherman Park.
And Burrillville put on a pure hitting display in nailing down its fourth victory. The winners received monster games at the plate from their No. 2 and 3 batters in the lineup, Tyler Richards and Josh Dichario, and ended up amassing 23 hits in a 22-1 triumph over Bernon that was cut short after four innings by the mercy rule.
PAWTUCKET â€“ The Boston Red Sox will send OF Carl Crawford to Pawtucket for an injury rehab assignment beginning Thursday night when the PawSox host the Buffalo Bisons at 7:05 pm at McCoy Stadium.
BLACKSTONE- Henry Gagne 53, of Dollard St. died Wednesday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Debra (Rugka) Gagne.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Normand and Leona (Charpentier) Gagne. Henry worked for In-Metal in Sharon MA for over ten years, he was a member of the Par-X Club and the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks.
Raymond A. Lefebvre
RIVERIA BEACH, FL- Raymond A. Lefebvre, 86, of Riveria Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Columbia Hospital of West Palm Beach, FL with his wife and friends by his side. He was the beloved husband for 50 years of Therese (Desjarlais) Lefebvre.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Armand and Irene (Gagnon) Lefebvre.
He was the brother of Marguerite Allen of Pascoag, RI, Eva Marietti and her husband, Michael of Chepachet, RI and the late Marcel Levebvre. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Francis J. Racine
BURRILLVILLE- Francis J. Racine, 88, resident of Pascoag, died July 10, 2012 at the Providence VA Medical Center in Providence.
He was born in Pascoag RI, a son of the late Andrew & Olive (Vanasse) Racine.
He worked for the Worcester Textile Co. in North Providence for 20 years as a supervisor retiring in 1986; previously he worked for the Whitins Machine Co in Whitinsville MA. He was an army veteran of WWII where he served in Germany. He lived most of his life in Burrillville previously he lived in Greenville.
WOONSOCKET - Police are searching for a pair of robbers who held up JB Liquors at around noon Wednesday, according to WPRI-TV.
Police say that one of the suspects entered the business and showed a handgun, got away with cash and ran outside, where the second suspect was waiting with a car, according to WPRI-TV.
The news channel also reports that investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the store to try to identify the two men.
PHOENIX AZ- Helena (Haczynski) Kukla, wife of the late Edward M. Kukla died on June 19, 2012 in Phoenix AZ.
Helena was born in Lincoln, RI on October 6, 1916 and lived in Woonsocket until 1997 when she moved to Phoenix AZ.
Helena was the daughter of Beatrice (Zych) and Walter Haczynski.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers (Stanley, Michael, Joseph, Thomas, Leo, Edward and Walter) and one sister (Irene).
WOONSOCKET â€” The Zoning Board of Review on Monday heard testimony on a proposed redevelopment of the former St. Francis House assisted living residence into 18 residential apartments and scheduled a decision on the matter for its next meeting on July 23.
The property's owner, city developer and business owner Gary Fernandes, is seeking to increase an earlier plan for 8 residential units in the five-level distinctive 167 Blackstone Street brick building through conversion of more of the building's available space, according to the proposal's architect, Dan Peloquin.
