WOONSOCKET - Muriel C. (Belhumeur) Vadenais, 78, of New Bedford, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2012 at home with family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward H. Vadenais.
Born in Woonsocket on August 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Anselme and Alice (Ouellette) Belhumeur. She was the loving mother of Paul Vadenais and the late Edward A. Vadenais.

Beatrice Cedras

LINCOLN - Beatrice Cedras 94, of Sayles Hill Rd. died Wednesday at The Holiday.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Albina Godin. She was a sales clerk at the former Social Department Store for over thirty years.
She leaves a son, Richard Eric Cedras of Berkeley, CA and several nieces and nephews including Connie Brochu of N. Smithfield. Beatrice was predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home are private.

Schools revise system of accountability

Rhode Island public schools have begun to work with a revised system of school accountability and intervention after the release of the state Department of Education's 2012 School Classifications on Friday.
The revised accountability system is based on the federally-approved waiver the state won in May for the federal No Child Left Behind Act's (NCLB) standardized approach to accountability and intervention requirements.
