Sikorowicz, Lapierre capture "Yo" Raymond 5K

CUMBERLAND -- When Ray Sikorowicz and his family drove from their Lincoln residence to Camp Ker Anna for the “Yo” Raymond Memorial 5K early Saturday morning, the 45-year-old veteran runner had two modest goals in mind – run a time that was in the low-18 minute range and compete for the top spot in his 40-49 age division.
Sikorowicz was able to accomplish both of those goals, as well as do something that in his wildest dreams he could not have envisioned – win the sixth annual race.

Museum of Work & Culture to host 14th Labor Day open house

WOONSOCKET — On Monday, Sept. 3, the Museum of Work & Culture will be hosting its 14th annual Labor Day open house celebration, sponsored by the Rhode Island Labor History Society. Admission is free all day, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until closing at 4 p.m.

Woonsocket Police promote three officers

WOONSOCKET – Friends and family members watched as the Woonsocket Police Department promoted three officers Friday in a ceremony at Harris Hall.
Edward Cunanan, a law enforcement professional since 1990, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, while Sean Carpenter and John Raymond were bumped up from officers to sergeants.
During his career at the Woonsocket Police Department, Cunanan has done stints in the juvenile division, the tactical unit and the gang unit. He’s also a member of the Special Reaction Team (SRT), the Honor Guard, and the detective division, where he currently serves.
