PROVIDENCE ‚Äď A Woonsocket man was sentenced to 50 years in prison Tuesday for a 2007 rape that had police stumped until his DNA was collected over three years later, after he committed an unrelated crime.
Jason Nickerson, 31, was sentenced to 60 years in all, with 50 to serve on each of four counts of first-degree sexual assault and the balance suspended, the attorney general‚Äôs office said.
WOONSOCKET ‚Äď Fifth Avenue School has at least 10 outstanding fire code violations, including several serious ones that have been unresolved for years, fire officials say.
But Capt. Michael A. Morin, fire marshal for the Woonsocket Fire Department, stopped short of calling the school ‚Äúa fire trap,‚ÄĚ as Schools Supt. Giovanna Donoyan did recently.
‚ÄúThat‚Äôs her opinion, that‚Äôs fine,‚ÄĚ said Morin. ‚ÄúThere‚Äôs no inherent danger to life there. What there are, are code violations and there‚Äôs a process to get those corrected.‚ÄĚ

Cecile A. Cloutier
MANVILLE- Cecile A. Cloutier, 92, of Old River Rd., Manville, died Tuesday at Oakland Grove Health Center.
Born in Manville, she was a daughter of the late Romeo and Marie (Valois) Cloutier. She remained a lifelong resident of Manville.
She was a graduate of the former Hill Business College in Woonsocket.
Cecile was employed as an office manager at Rochambeau Worsted for 13 years and later worked for Westwood Corporation in Manville for over 20 years before retiring in 1985.
Linda J. Quinley
WOONSOCKET- Linda J. (Champagne) Quinley 59, of Rock Ridge Dr. died Monday at home.
She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of Albert G. Champagne and the late Jeannette (Beauchemin) Champagne.
Robert P. Cote
WOONSOCKET- Robert P. Cote, 72, of East School St., Woonsocket, died Monday at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Leodor and Therese (Pichette) Cote. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Cote was employed by Herman Shoes for over 25 years and later at Stride Rite until he retired in 1985.
Robert was an avid bingo player.
Doris M. Lafond
LINCOLN- Lafond Doris M. 83 of Old River Rd. died Monday August 6, 2012 at home. She was the wife of Roland A. Lafond.
Born in Cumberland, a daughter of the late Albert W. and Amelia (Roy) Costigan. She lived in Manville for many years.
Dorothy F. Cruise
BURRILLVILLE - Dorothy F. (Durozoy) Cruise, 89, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Bayberry Commons Nursing Home, Pascoag. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Cruise Sr.
Born in Harrisville, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva (Demers) Durozoy.
Dorothy worked in the Housekeeping department at Zambarano Hospital of Pascoag for many years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Rosary and Altar Society and the Burrillville Senior Citizens.
Allen W. Genereux
WOONSOCKET- Allen W. Genereux "Crutch" born on June 19, 1938 died on July 27, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
He is survived by his wife Nancy L. Genereux; six children Leslie Martin, David Genereux, Rhonda Jorritsma, Paula Colburn, Stacy Usher, Juanita Phillips. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Shaw, three nephews, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
PAWTUCKET ‚ÄĒ A Pawtucket man with convictions for attempted murder and narcotics charges in Puerto Rico was arrested by State Police Monday under a new law that makes it a crime to possess body armor after a crime of violence.
Antonio E. Limardo, 34, of 42 Webster St., was also in possession of a 9mm handgun, a knife and pepper spray, state police said.
