LINCOLN — A Lincoln police officer who was found guilty in January of felony battery with a dangerous weapon for kicking a handcuffed woman in the head outside a slot parlor in 2009, has resigned, Lincoln Town Administrator Joseph Almond announced Wednesday.
“Effective Aug. 10, 2012, the Town of Lincoln has accepted an unconditional and irrevocable resignation from Officer Edward Krawetz,†Almond said. “This action has allowed the town to avoid the inherent uncertainty of costly and time-consuming litigation and appeals which would inevitably ensue if this matter remained unresolved.â€
Carmella Cecconi
HARRISVILLE- Carmella (Silba) Cecconi, 87, of Inman Rd. died Wednesday August 15, 2012 in the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Anthony Cecconi. Carmella and Tony were married for 69 years.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Matteo and Marion (Delfino) Silba.
Carmella worked for US Rubber for several years prior to retiring.
She was a former member of the North Smithfield Senior Citizens.
Bernard E. Meunier
CUMBERLAND- Bernard E. Meunier, 85, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Oakland Grove Health Center, Woonsocket, RI. He was the loving husband for 58 years to Claire J. (Berard) Meunier.
He was born October 13, 1926 in Woonsocket, the son of the late Raymond E. and Aldora (Desrosiers) Meunier.

NORTH SMITHFIELD — The future of the Halliwell Memorial School in Slatersville will be the focus of a special joint meeting of the Town Council and School Committee on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Kendall Dean School auditorium, 83 Green St.

PAWTUCKET – Pawtucket Red Sox Team President Mike Tamburro will never forget the phone call he received from then-Red Sox General Manager Lou Gorman in June 1990.
“How would you like Johnny Pesky to be your new manager?†was the message Gorman relayed to Tamburro. “I said, ‘We would love to have Johnny (pilot the PawSox).’â€
Richard A. Eldridge
WOONSOCKET - Richard A. "Doc" Eldridge, 65, of Sandwich, MA. formerly of Woonsocket, died Sunday at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Henry and Irene (Girard) Eldridge. He was a graduate of Woonsocket High School.
Mr. Eldridge was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following his naval service he lived in Pittsburgh for several years until returning to Woonsocket.

CRANSTON - Denise Aurore Kellogg (Boucher), 58 of Cranston, RI died on August 11, 2012 after an illness.
Born in Woonsocket, on June 20, 1954 she was the daughter of Raymond and Rita Boucher (Monfett).
She is survived by two daughters, Jamey Palmieri (Cournoyer) of Mansfield, MA and Barbra Cournoyer of Woonsocket, RI, two granddaughters Taylor Cournoyer and Bailey Rose Palmieri, and a son-in-law Ryan Palmieri, one sister Paulette Mercure of Millville MA, and a lifetime friend Frances Peabody of Moosup, CT.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Brian W. Archambault, 46, resident of North Smithfield, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2012 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, he is the son of Pauline (Belrose) Archambault of North Smithfield and the late Aram (Arama) Archambault.

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Patricia L. (Patty) Gurka 47, of North Smithfield, formerly of Johnston, RI, passed away at Umass Medical Center in Worcester, MA, after injuries sustained in a motor vehicle car accident on August 11, 2012.

WOONSOCKET - Evelina "Babe" (Peloquin) Champagne 78, of Pond St died Monday in Landmark Medical Center. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Alfred and Lena (Gill) Peloquin. She was the wife of Albert Champagne of Woonsocket.
Mrs. Champagne was a self employed jewelry maker for the former E&B Jewelry Co. for many years before retiring in 1999.
