C.F. booters defeat Cumberland, remain unbeaten

CUMBERLAND – Central Falls High head coach Carl Africo doesn't ask former mentor Bobby Marchand to help him out with scouting, but – if he's going to offer – the former isn't about to argue.
Prior to the Warriors' Division I tilt against Cumberland on Wednesday night, Marchand told Africo he had seen the Clippers play at Barrington earlier in the week, and told him that junior striker Kyle Courtney had the speed and ball skills to be a thorn in CF's defensive side.

Steward walks away from Landmark deal

WOONSOCKET – It looks like Steward Health Care is walking away from the deal to buy struggling Landmark Medical Center.
While there’s been no official notice from Steward, the special master in charge of Landmark has already begun shopping the hospital around to other prospective suitors.
“We want patients and employees to know we have a Plan B in place and we will be able to discuss the plan in greater detail in the coming days,” Fischer said Wednesday.

SMITHFIELD- Normand A. Gouin 83, resident of Smithfield, died September 21, 2012, at the North Bay Manor in Smithfield.
He was the husband of the late Theresa (Trinque) Gouin.
He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Eddie & Yvonne (Hamelin) Gouin.
Normand owned and operated Gouins Supply Co. for 50 years. He was a former resident of Burrillville and previously he lived in North Smithfield. He was a member of the Woonsocket Elks Lodge #850.
