Inaugural PawSox 5K Race/Walk draws large crowd, rave reviews

PAWTUCKET — Augusto Rojas and the Pawtucket Red Sox got everything they could ask for and more from their inaugural PawSox 5K Race/Walk at McCoy Stadium.
A sunny morning. A strong turnout. Plenty of positive feedback.
And a fantastic finish for first place.
In a thrilling conclusion that had the fans scattered along the stadium’s lower box seats cheering wildly, Geoff Nelson survived a frantic sprint with Nathan Petesch around the warning track by nipping him at the finish line near the PawSox’s dugout by less than a second.

Gregory reinvited to Chamber Committee

LINCOLN — John Gregory, CEO of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, was recently invited to continue to serve as a member of the Chamber of Commerce Committee for the 2012-2013 year.

Candidate Moniz moves out of House District 49

WOONSOCKET — Michael Moniz, who’s running for a seat in the state legislature, has moved out of House District 49, which he intends to represent.
Moniz moved from St. Germain Manor on East School Street to Crepeau Court on Front Street — both publicly-managed high-rises — on July 9, according to Robert Kulik, director of the Woonsocket Housing Authority.
Kulik said Moniz relocated because the housing authority is converting a portion of St. Germain Manor in which he lived to assisted living.
