Linda M. Ponte
WOONSOCKET- Linda M. Ponte, 51 of Main Street, passed away Wednesday in the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Rui Ponte.
Born in Providence, she is the daughter of Horrace and Theresa (Sousa) Moniz of Portugal. She resided in Woonsocket for the past 6 years, previously residing in Pawtucket and Cumberland.
When Linda was in Cumberland she was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland.
She was involved with the Agape Center, Woonsocket.
Sylvia P. Leveillee
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Sylvia P.(Parent) Leveillee 102, formerly of Woonsocket, died Sunday in St. Antoine Residence, where she was a resident for over thirty years. She was the wife of the late Maurice Leveillee.
Mrs. Leveillee was born in Woonsocket the daughter of the late Adrien and Marie (Riendeau) Parent.
She was a dental assistant for Dr. Paul Cote and Dr. Eugene Toupin for many years, retiring in 1972.
She is survived by a nephew; Maurice Parent of Havelock, NC, and a niece, Paulette Valentin of Woonsocket, and was the sister of the late Sylvio Parent.

PAWTUCKET â Tolman Highâs Dion Rubio, a star football player who developed into a championship-calibre wrestler over the past four winters, enjoys the mat sport.
âItâs really different than football,â Rubio, who finished fifth in the state at 160 pounds last winter, said on Thursday night after sending the Tigers to a 42-39 victory over Woonsocket with a pin in the final minute of the final match of the night.
With three weekends to go in the regular season, there are still postseason spots and high playoff seeds up for grabs in the three boysâ divisions and girlsâ league. That being said, hereâs a quick rundown on where the teams in the Blackstone Valley stand heading into tonightâs action.
Division I
Mount St. Charlesâs 6-3 victory over Moses Brown last Friday, followed by Burrillvilleâs dramatic 4-2 win over the Quakers the following night, zapped all the drama out of which four teams will battle in the âState Championshipâ playoffs.
WOONSOCKET --- Before the season started, Steve Shea had his share of concerns regarding his Mount St. Charles team and its quest to three-peat as state champions.
Graduation took away a talented senior class that helped the Mounties claim a 19-1 record and roll past Bay View in the state finals, and the voids left the second-year coach with quite a few questions to answer.
Can he successfully put together a third line? Who will fill in the blanks on defense? And what contributions can he get from his younger players, which include five freshmen and a few other first-year skaters?
WOONSOCKET â A few details of the changes in store for Landmark Medical Center if the sale of the hospital goes through have emerged from the state health department, including a name change thatâs getting some lukewarm reviews from the locals.
Steward Health Care System of Boston would rename the Cass Avenue facility âBlackstone Medical Center.â Similarly, the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island, in North Smithfield, would become âBlackstone Rehabilitation Hospital.â
LINCOLN â Little did Alexandra Fish know that when she accurately spelled the noun tableau, defined by Webster's Dictionary as âa striking, dramatic scene or picture,â she was living one herself.
That correct answer led the Lincoln Middle School eighth grader to the championship of the annual Lincoln School District Spelling Bee, held inside her home auditorium on Tuesday night.
Fish, who out-dueled fellow schoolmate and sixth-grader Alexandra Theroux, now will represent the district at the Rhode Island State Spelling Bee, to be held at this same site on Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m.

PORT CHARLOTTE- Janet Aurella (Struzik) Haczynski, age 69, died January 9, 2012 in Port Charlotte, Florida after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jan was born on July 18, 1942 and previously lived in Blackstone, MA and North Smithfield, RI.
Stephen Douglas Chisholm
LINCOLN- Stephen Douglas Chisholm, 52, of Lincoln, passed away unexpectedly in his residence on February 7th.
Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Mary (MacLachlan) Chisholm, he had lived in Lincoln for over twenty-five years.
Gerard L. Bergeron
WOONSOCKET- Gerard L. Bergeron 57, of 23 Clinton St. died Monday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Theresa (Goss) Bergeron.
Born in North Attleboro, MA he was a son of the late Maurice and Rita (Picard) Bergeron.
Gerry was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at several area nursing homes for twenty years, he also worked as a counter person for Dunkin Donuts for several years.
