Wayne G. Cousineau
BLACKSTONE- Wayne G. "Chief" Cousineau, 56, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully in his sleep unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 30, 2012.
He was the beloved husband of the late Claudette S. (Riel) Cousineau and the late Michelle A. (Roy) Cousineau.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on October 12, 1955, he was the son of Gerard "Chick" Cousineau of Portland, ME and the late Lorraine C. (Stoeklin) Harrington.
Gabriel M. Fortin
LINCOLN- Gabriel M. "Gabe" Fortin, 77, died Saturday, January 28, at home. He was the husband of the late Lois B. (Vivier) Fortin.
Born in the Albion village of Lincoln, a son of the late Wilfred and DiNora (Metivier) Fortin, he was a lifelong resident of the village.
Mr. Fortin was a schoolteacher for the Central Falls School Dept. for over thirty-five years, and was a graduate of St. Michael's College, Vermont.
Ernest T. Stefanick
WOONSOCKET Ernest T. "Pinky" Stefanick, 83, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 30, 2012 at the St. Antoine Residence in No. Smithfield, RI.
Born on April 12, 1928, he was the loving husband of Phyllis J. (Nordberg) Stefanick, and son of the late John & Mary (Skalak) Stefanik.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was employed by the Mark Stevens/CVS, Corporation for 39 years. He enjoyed coaching, playing and watching sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
PROVIDENCE (AP) — Former Rhode Island Gov. Joseph Garrahy has been remembered as a man who lived humbly and set an example for others.
The Rev. Marcel Taillon remembered Garrahy at a funeral Mass on Tuesday morning as a man of faith who rose from humble beginnings.
Taillon, the pastor at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Narragansett, delivered the homily at a service at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence.
Garrahy died last week at a hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was 81.

CUMBERLAND — After surviving a staph infection scare that shut down the Cumberland High wrestling program for a week, the Clippers return to the mat this week for a pair of tough matches with La Salle Academy and Cranston West.
“Every match we have from here on out is going to be tough,” Cumberland coach Steve Gordon admitted on Monday. “Next week, we host unbeaten Hendricken and the week after that we visit Warwick Veterans. Both of those teams are state title contenders.”
Gordon is just happy to have his team wrestling again.
PROVIDENCE — There was no doubt in Lindsay Rachlow’s mind that her team would be competitive in Division II this winter.
In her first season as head coach of Burrillville High last year, Rachlow watched her Broncos struggle during the adjustment stage with an 0-9 start. But they then ran off eight straight victories to eventually make the playoffs. From that squad, only two seniors graduated.
BURRILLVILLE — The Esten-Bowen House on Iron Mine Hill Road has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, the state’s preservation authority announced.
Build around 1790, “the Esten-Bowen house represents Burrillville’s development from a period of agricultural growth and expansion from the end of the 18th century through gradual decline and subsequent transition to exurban residential uses in the early 20th century,” said Edward F. Sanderson, executive director of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission.

Holcomb
NAPLES, MAINE- Normand O. Holcomb of Naples, Maine, died Tuesday, January 24th at Maine Medical Center as a result of complications from an accident at the Naples Casco Transfer Station on November 1, 2011.
He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on January 27, 1926, the son of Willis and Delia (Senecal) Holcomb.
Armand L. Lepage
WOONSOCKET- Armand L. Lepage, 86, formerly of Bernon St., Woonsocket, died Thursday at Pine Grove Health Center in Pascoag. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Petrin) Lepage.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late George and Clerina (Turcotte) Lepage. He remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Lepage was employed at Blackstone Dye Company for over 28 years. He also worked at Ocean State Finishing Company for 10 years until he retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Forever Club.
Theodore Niejadlik
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Theodore Niejadlik 84, of Great Rd. died Sunday at Landmark Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Therese (Morin) Niejadlik. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Stanley and Anna (Rusnak ) Niejadlik. Mr. Niejadlik was a Work War II Army Veteran. He was the head mechanic for Blackstone Valley Electric Co. for forty three years before retiring in 1990. Ted was a member of the North Smithfield Senior Citizens and an avid card player belonging to several pitch leagues.
