Edna F. Sparling
THOMPSON - Edna F. (Place) Sparling, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 in Matulaitus Nursing Home, Putnam, CT. She lived with her daughter, Joan, in Thompson, CT.
Born in Burrillville, RI, she was the daughter of the late William and Leah (Mowry) Place.
She worked as a Clerk at the former Speidel in East Providence before retiring in 1985.
Gisele Giguere
NORTH PORT, FL- Gisele (Cloutier) Giguere, age 81, passed away on December 31, 2011 at her home in North Port, FL surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Woonsocket, RI on April 21, 1930.
Gisele is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Giguere, son David of Guilford, CT and two daughters, Diane Auger, of Manville, RI and Donna Lavallee of Mapleville, RI. Gisele was the daughter of the late Alphonse & Aldea Cloutier.

CUMBERLAND --- Steve Gordonâs Cumberland High wrestling program has reached the enviable point where the Clippers donât have to rebuild ⊠they just reload.
After losing two multiple state champions (the Lariviere twins) to graduation last June, Cumberland might have expected a slight regression this season. There is no regression to be found, at least not yet. (The season still hasnât reached the halfway point.)
Cumberland improved to 7-0 in Division I with a 56-24 rout of South Kingstown on Wednesday night. The Rebels are one of those good programs that does have to reload.
PROVIDENCE â Minutes after prosecuting and defense attorneys had issued their closing remarks regarding suspended Lincoln Patrolman Edward M. Krawetz' trial Wednesday morning, Superior Court Justice Edward C. Clifton informed those in Courtroom 7 he would issue a ruling on Monday, Jan. 23.
Clifton asked both Assistant Attorney General and prosecutor Stephen Regine and defense lawyer John Harwood if they could re-schedule from the previously-set date of Jan. 17, and both indicated they would.
WOONSOCKET â Landmark Medical Center said it was sure it would meet the new application deadline set for yesterday by regulators empowered to approve its planned merger with the Steward Health Care System, but there was no word yet on whether the application is considered complete.
âWe will meet this deadline,â Landmark spokesman Bill Fischer said yesterday afternoon. âTheyâve asked us to address a number of issues and we believe we have. Weâre hopeful the documents weâve been asked to provide will meet the regulatorsâ request.â
Edgar A. Desilets
WOONSOCKET- Edgar A. Desilets, 90, of Dulude Ave., Woonsocket, died Wednesday morning at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Rita F. (Tellier) Desilets.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Aldor and Victoria (Chevrette) Desilets. He was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket.
Mr. Desilets was an Army veteran of WWII. He served as a guard at POW camps in Georgia and at Quonset Point in Rhode Island.
Rita L. Valentini
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Rita L. Valentini, 90, of North Smithfield, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
She was born Tuesday, October 18, 1921 in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Henry and Roseanna (Cotnoir) Gentes.
She was a longtime resident of Woonsocket, and during that time, Rita had worked as a spinner for Falls Yarn for over 30 years before retiring to Winter Haven, Florida with her husband Julio. Together, they resided in Florida for over 20 years, before Rita moved back to Rhode Island.

Beauregard
LADY LAKE, FL- Norma E. (Gendron) Beauregard, 68, formerly of Lincoln died Monday, January 9, 2012 at the home of her son, Todd A. Beauregard of Glocester. She was the wife of the late Eugene A. Beauregard.
Born in Valley Falls, a daughter of the late Antonio and Beatrice (Laroque) Gendron, she had lived in Lincoln over 30 years before moving to Florida 7 years ago.
Mrs. Beauregard was a quality control inspector for Texas Instruments, Attleboro, MA for over 30 years before retiring.

WOONSOCKET â On a night the offense struggled mightily, East Providenceâs defense rose to the occasion, especially at the end of the opening half, and fetched the Townies an important Division I-North victory over Woonsocket on Tuesday night.
The Towniesâ âDâ forced the Novans to commit the bulk of their 20 turnovers and played a big role in an 18-point run in the first half by keeping their hosts scoreless for eight-plus minutes, and in the process, helping produce a 54-39 triumph.
PROVIDENCE â Mount St. Charles, Cumberland and Lincoln swept their opponents on Monday night in a Northern Division meet.
Mount swept Shea and St. Raphael while Cumberland rolled over Ponaganset and Woonsocket. Lincoln topped Central Falls and Tolman.
Several of the usual suspects stood out with strong performances. Woonsocketâs Jalen Evans swept the 55-meter dash (6.6 seconds) and 300-meter race (38.0). Tolmanâs Homlin Taylor won his sprint in 6.7 seconds.
