Being a college basketball captain means a ton of responsibilities

WARWICK — On a day that saw this country honor the memory and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and watch as President Obama mapped out his second-term desires, it seemed appropriate to talk leadership.
Specifically, leadership and the set of guidelines college basketball teams employ when selecting captains, along with what this honor means to those bestowed with said responsibility.

“It was a disaster,” he said after his Broncos had suffered a humiliating 6-0 Division I loss to powerhouse Hendricken. “The kids just didn’t come ready to play for some unknown reason. They just didn’t have it. They didn’t come out of the gate with any kind of energy, which is something you definitely need against the privates.

PAWTUCKET — Should we stay or should we go? That was the question facing Lincoln head coach Jim Riel during the offseason when the RIIL was getting ready to realign its teams for the 2012-13 campaign.
Stay in the Division I-Eccleston and the Lions would have been competitive night in and night out against the other five public schools in the division. Drop down to Division II and also face a drop in competition, but the Lions would have been one of the clear favorites in the running for a lower state championship.

UXBRIDGE, MA - Linda E. (Angus) Trucchi, 65, formerly of Mechanicsville, VA., who recently relocated to Uxbridge, MA with her beloved husband and soul mate of 26 years, Steven E. Trucchi, passed away Thursday night, January 17, 2013, with loved ones by her side. She courageously, and gracefully, fought a 13 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

RIVERSIDE, OHIO- David B. Dexter (SMSGT retired), age 76 of Riverside, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013. He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Dexter-Durand; and father, Charles H. Dexter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rochelle (Gauvin) Dexter; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Bowman, Denise (Rodney) Helton, Diane (Bill) King; grandsons, Don Olson, David Olson, Rodney Helton, Levi Helton, and William Yoder; six great-grandchildren; nephews, Tom and Eric Dexter.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Thelma Louise (Aldrich) O'Hara, 85, of Woonsocket Hill Rd, North Smithfield, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Peter Leo O'Hara, Jr. who just passed away January 13, they were married for 65 years.
Born in North Smithfield she was the daughter of the late Warren and Marion (McClintock) Aldrich.
She worked as a Nutritional Aide for The State of Rhode Island the for The University of Rhode Island before retiring. She received an Associate's Degree from Hill College.

Born in Van Buren, ME, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Isabelle (Cote) Deloge.
Mrs. Beaulieu was a homemaker, and loved spending time with her family and knitting. She was a devote Catholic.
