CUMBERLAND â€“ A town consulting firm was getting good initial results Tuesday while conducting water well testing at the Schofield Farm property as part of its search for a potential future town well field.
Of course, the town is also looking at several other town sites as potential public water supplies, and town Water Superintendent Chris Champi said the review is only the start of a process that could take up to three years before a new well supply is connected to the townâ€™s water system.
WOONSOCKET â€“ Already the subject of an open records lawsuit, Education Department financial data indicating that the city experienced a surprise multi-million-dollar surplus in 2013 could be released publicly by the Budget Commission as early as today.
â€śThatâ€™s what weâ€™re aiming for,â€ť said Acting Chairwoman Dina Dutremble.
Neither Dutremble nor Commissioner John Ward, City Council president, would provide specifics about the size of the surplus or other details. But sources close to the commission who asked not to be identified said the net surplus would be about $2 million.
CUMBERLAND â€” Visiting Tiverton tried to pull off a magical comeback and an upset victory over Cumberland on Wednesday night at the Clippersâ€™ Wellness Center, but the Clippers were able to win a 3-2 thriller that raised their Division II-North record to 12-2.
The Clippers cruised to 25-9 and 25-15 victories in the first two games, but the Tigers (6-8) came back to win the next two games, 25-20 and 25-16, and take the Clippers the distance in the fifth set before falling 16-14.
Adam J. Tellier Jr.
BLACKSTONE- Adam J. Tellier Jr. 91, died Saturday October 12, 2013, in the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of Angela (Sweck) Tellier. Adam and Angela were married for 67 years.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Adam and Florence (Vadebonceur) Tellier.
Everett R. Bishop Jr.
BLACKSTONE- Everett R. Bishop Jr., 86, of Farm Street, died, Wednesday October 16, 2013 in the Friendly Home, with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Jeannine (Comtois) Bishop. Who passed away July 2, 2013.
Born in Boston, MA. son of the late Everett R. and Nettie M. (Ellis) Bishop.
He was a Veteran of United States Navy Seabees, serving in WWII.
He worked as a Detective Sgt. for the Woonsocket Police Department, for 32 years. He also worked as Superintendent of St. Charles Cemetery for 30 years.
Honorable Henry Louis Jalette, Sr.
GAITHERSBURG, MD- The Honorable Henry Louis Jalette, Sr., 91, of Gaithersburg, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Henry was born in Woonsocket, RI on September 14, 1922. He was the eldest son of Arthur and Loretta (Forcier) Jalette and the brother of Anita L'Etoile, Loretta Brunelle, Claire Phaneuf, Roger Jalette, and Arthur Jalette. He was predeceased by his brothers Normand and Lionel Jalette and his sister Beatrice Jalette and Lina Belisle.
WOONSOCKET- Theresa (Bacon) Morin, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home, with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph O. Morin.
Born Dec. 30, 1926 in No. Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Louis & Emma (Forcier) Bacon.
