Woonsocket humbled in non-league loss to Rogers

WOONSOCKET – Regardless of the outcome, Woonsocket High head coach Carnell Henderson can take what just transpired on the gridiron and break it down in simple, easy-to-understand terms.

Following Saturday’s 21-14 non-league loss to Division II foe Rogers – Woonsocket seemed stuck in neutral on an afternoon where Homecoming was celebrated at Barry Field – Henderson was his usual flawless self as he attempted to digest what exactly went wrong.

EAST PROVIDENCE – For a team that hadn’t played a game in 15 days, North Smithfield looked pretty sharp during Saturday’s 41-8 romp over the co-op squad comprised of players from Providence Country Day, Wheeler and Juanita Sanchez.

The Northmen got an 88-yard touchdown run-back of the opening kickoff from Nicholas Cicerone and went on to score all of their points during the first half. Head coach Wes Pennington then played his second team for most of the second half.
