WHITINSVILLE/UXBRIDGE - Olive (Richardson) Pendleton, 95, passed away Thurs. Oct. 24, 2013 in UMass/Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
She was born in Uxbridge in 1918 the daughter of the late Elias and Laura (Ballou) Richardson and was a graduate of Uxbridge High School in 1936. A resident of Uxbridge for most of her life, she was living in Whitinsville for the past few years.

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Alan Lincoln Hurd, 75, of North Smithfield, died October 23, 2013 at home with his loving family by his side after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the beloved husband of Cornelia (Kokolski) Hurd. He was born in Woonsocket on February 12, 1938, the son of the late Frank C. and Dorothy M. (Beauregard) Hurd. He was a kind and gentle man, always with a ready smile, and great love for his family.

WOONSOCKET – City inspectors have ordered Dave and Charlene Densmore to shut down the elaborate Halloween house they built on their property, calling it a threat to public safety.
Featuring a witch’s brew of ghosts, goblins and ghoulish creatures oozing fake blood, the labyrinthine structure is made from sections of recycled stockade fence, plastic tarps and salvage-yard specials. “Fear for Food,” as the Densmores call their concoction of creepy kitsch, is open to public for nothing more than the donation of a canned good, to be passed on to one of the local soup kitchens.

LINCOLN -- Wednesday was a day of mixed feelings for Russell E. Shipp, 51, of Pleasant Street. It was a day to remember the loss of his brother, Lance Cpl. Thomas A. Shipp, a Woonsocket native, in the terrorist attack on a U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, 30 years ago to the day. Oct. 23 is also the day Shipp’s son Travis, now 24, was born in 1989.
