Stolen SUV crashes into St. Charles, heavily damaging historic church

November 27, 2013

WOONSOCKET – On the run from the police, a stolen SUV slammed into the granite entryway of St. Charles Barromeo Church Wednesday, causing a staggering amount of damage.
“It’s really shocking,” said Rev. Gerald L. Finnegan, the pastor. “I thought the building was impregnable. It’s stone. Granite. I thought it would last forever.”
Police arrested 18-year-old Jalen Asean Abney on one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was captured after a foot chase that began following the crash, but two others escaped, including one individual Abney claims was driving.

Lincoln’s Thaddeus Moss not after stardom; just fitting in and playing football

November 27, 2013

LINCOLN – The hope was to blend in as the new kid in a new high school.

But that wasn’t a luxury afforded to Thaddeus Moss, and it didn’t take this precocious young football player long to realize that he wasn’t in Kentucky or West Virginia any more.

Moss arrived at Lincoln High School in March, and the school’s lights seemingly became more luminous the moment he was spotted in the hallways. He was commanding nonstop attention, though in an entirely different fashion as what he was accustomed to on the gridiron.
