Rapper urges kids to say no to bullying

WOONSOCKET – Sometimes it takes a little bit of fun to learn an important lesson, and the students at Citizens Elementary School found that out on Thursday when Mr. Deep Positivity took on the problem of bullying during a rally in their school auditorium.

The rapping educator from Providence, a.k.a. James McBride and 2003 Rhode Island Big Brother of the Year, used his songs and supportive and optimistic outlook to encourage the students to take a stand against bullying.

To enlighten the masses regarding the kind of manager and person the Pawtucket Red Sox are getting in Kevin Boles, we engaged in a background check that conjured all sorts of positive vibrations.

In essence, this is a “getting-to-know-you-better” exercise, an opportunity to view through the lens of those who know and understand Boles best and have more insight into his roots than any introductory press conference ever could.

PawSox extend coaching staff, bring Crabbe aboard

PAWTUCKET — At a time when a host of Boston’s top prospects are stationed in Double-A and Triple-A, the organization arrived at the decision to provide the PawSox coaching staff with an additional voice.

To be clear, Kevin Boles is Pawtucket’s new manager while fellow Triple-A newcomer Bruce Crabbe is classified as coach, not bench coach. The pair will be joined in the trenches by pitching coach Rich Sauveur and hitting coach Dave Joppie, two holdovers from Gary DiSarcina’s staff who will be returning to McCoy Stadium in 2014.

WOONSOCKET- Lillian J. Chaput, 96, formerly of 300 Privilege St. Woonsocket died Wednesday at the Holiday in Manville. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Chaput.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Philippe and Georgeanna (Roy) Gariepy. She was a lifelong resident of the city and had resided at The Holiday for the past several years.
Mrs. Chaput was employed in the local textile industry at several area firms including the French Worsted, Bell Worsted, and the Verdun Worsted mills.

GLOCESTER- Arline M. (Lamphere) Monahan, 81, of Chepachet, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was the wife of the late Frederick Monahan.
Born in Putnam, Ct., she was a daughter of the late Prescott and Edith (Barton) Lamphere.
Mrs. Monahan was a Nurse's Aide at the Lakeview Nursing Home for 25 years and the Overlook Nursing Home for 10 years before retiring in 2003. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- Brown, Robert L. "Bob", 78 formerly of Nasonville, RI passed away, Monday December 9th, 2013 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his youngest son Scott, wife Kelly and grandson Tim in their Port Charlotte home. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean H. (Johnson) Brown for more than 46 years.
Port Charlotte was the couple's retirement home for more than 10 years.

And it's all for a good cause, says Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt: The Milk Fund. "These signs will make a great gift of decoration for anyone's home, office, or place of business, and the proceeds will help a very worthy charity,"the mayor said. The city will be selling the old green-and-white signs for $10 each.They're available because the city is in the process of replacing them.
