NORTH SMITHFIELD â€“ Way back on Sept. 28, North Smithfield High traveled to Exeter/West Greenwich's home gridiron and exhibited perhaps its sloppiest game of the season, but still sustained â€śonlyâ€ť a 17-14 loss.
The two will meet yet again in a R.I. Division IV Tournament semifinal in West Greenwich at 6 p.m., Tuesday, and â€“ to prepare his troops mentally â€“ Pennington is utilizing not just what happened in that contest but also one that occurred three years ago this same weekend.
WOONSOCKET â€“ Mayor-elect Lisa Baldelli-Hunt will take office with a huge popular mandate when she is sworn in Tuesday night at the Stadium Theatre.
The niece of former Mayor Charles Baldelli, she will usher in a clean sweep of City Hallâ€™s most influential positions, bringing in a new team.
Ceremonies begin at 7 p.m., with the oath of office delivered by House Speaker Gordon Fox. Her uncle, the former mayor, is to serve as master of ceremonies.
Violet I. Capps
WOONSOCKET- Violet I. Capps, 86, of Social St. died November 26, 2013 at The Holiday. She was the wife of the late Samuel R. Capps.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Irene (Trudeau) Beauregard.
Violet was an assembler for the Uni-Royal Co. for thirty years, she also worked for Univis Eyewear for fifteen years.
Beatrice L. Chubka
BLACKSTONE, MA- Beatrice L. (Papineau) Chubka, 71, of Micco, FL, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Sebastian River Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on August 19, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Juliette (Isaac) Papineau.
WOONSOCKET- Hilde "Oma" Higglesden, 88, passed away, Saturday, November 30, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Karl Theo Jehl.
Born on August 28, 1925 in Dorfmark, Germany. Daughter of Alma and Otto Eggers.
Lynn L. Gelinas
PORT BYRON, NY- Lynn L. Gelinas, 52, of Port Byron, NY passed away on December 1, 2013.
Born March 16, 1961. She was the daughter of Arthur W. and Marguerite N. Gelinas.
She resided with Mr. & Mrs. Charles Walmarth of New York, she was a formerly of Woonsocket, RI.
She leaves a son Eric and a daughter Angie Connely, five brothers, Wilfred, Roland, John, Arthur Jr., William Gelinas and four sisters Julie Gelinas, Lori Allard, Brenda Poore, Jennifer Harrison and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 in New York.
Marion J. Allen
BURRILLVILLE- Marion J. (Tetreault) Allen, 80, of Pascoag, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 in Bayberry Commons, Pascoag. A lifelong resident of Burrillville, she was the wife of the late Joseph F. Allen. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Eugene P. Tetreault Sr. and Marion L. (Hill) Tetreault.
She worked for Tupperware of Blackstone and as a CNA for the former Lakeview Nursing Home of Harrisville and St. Antoine Residence of North Smithfield. Marion was a long time member of Community Baptist Church, Pascoag.
Col. David M. Falk
ALEXANDRIA, VA- Col. David M. Falk, 92, passed away November 29, 2013 in Alexandria, VA
A graveside service, under the direction of the Chevra Kadisha of Congregation B'Nai Israel and the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, will be held Friday, December 6, 2013 at 1 PM in B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket.
Robert E. Potter
JOHNSTON- Robert E. (Bob) Potter, 87, died Saturday, November 30th at Miriam Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Anita J. Ducharme.
Born on October 18, 1926 in Burrillville, a son of the late Ernest E. Potter and Elizabeth (Cole) Potter, he was a resident of Burrillville nearly all of his life and most recently resided in Johnston. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Help Church.
WOONSOCKET- Stephen Hoyceanyls 88, died Tuesday, November 26, in Oakland Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Irene (Dugas) Hoyceanyls. Together they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 24 of this year.
Mr. Hoyceanyls was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Mikeal and Amelia (Kluchevitch) Hoyceanyls.
He was a WWII and Korean War veteran serving in the US Navy. Mr. Hoyceanyls was a foreman for the A. Bonfitti Co. before retiring in 1990.
