NORTH SMITHFIELD- Jonathan P. Lebrun 31, of Eddie Dowling Hwy, died December 23, 2013 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the loving son of Roger Lebrun of Charlestown, and Patricia Carrigan of North Smithfield, and the step- son of Dianne (Rochefort) Lebrun.
Jonathan was the beloved brother of Jason Lebrun of Springfield, MA, Ryan Contee of Charlestown, RI, Jennifer Hervieux of Burlington, NC, and Madison Lebrun of UT. He was also the brother of the late Jeffrey Lebrun.

WOONSOCKET- Paulette "Bunny" L. (Benjamin) Allen-Duarte, 71, of Greene St., died December 24, 2013 at home. She was the wife of John F. Duarte.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Henault) Benjamin.
Paulette worked as a lab technician for A.T. Cross, Lincoln. She enjoyed the beach, music and singing and was a member of several bands in her younger years.

Mount St. Charles alumni hockey players gather as part of Adelard Arena’s 50th anniversary

WOONSOCKET — So what if it was the morning after Christmas? To the roughly four-dozen former Mount St. Charles hockey players who took to the Adelard Arena surface wearing red or white sweaters, this particular occasion was not about to be missed.

The sight of the Mounties’ glorious skating past coming to life at this time of year is nothing new. In what could be viewed as the perfect appetizer, an alumni game is always staged on the same day that the puck drops on the MSC Holiday Face-Off Hockey Tournament.

CUMBERLAND — Tolman High head coach Mike Kayata admitted to being less than ecstatic about his offense on Thursday night.
His defense, however, was a different story.
Excepting a lull early in the final stanza, that “D” forced most of Lincoln’s 18 turnovers throughout the first half and down the stretch as the Tigers rolled to a 56-40 victory in the first semifinal of the 41st annual Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland/Lincoln Roadshow Holiday Classic at Cumberland High’s Wellness Center.

SMITHFIELD — The future was on display for Cumberland on Thursday afternoon inside Smithfield High’s gymnasium, and judging by the way the Clippers performed in its non-league game against Woonsocket, the future looks very bright for the program.
Freshman guard Julianne Ross delivered her second 10-point output in as many games and sophomore guard Taylor Fay and Sarah Marsland had solid performances as well in the Clippers’ 39-23 victory over the Villa Novans in the opening game of the 27th annual R.I. Board of Officials/Smithfield Boosters Club Holiday Classic.

Lincoln officer’s conversational skills help nab hit-and-run suspect

LINCOLN – A keen-eyed member of the Police Department is getting kudos for zeroing in on the alleged hit-and-run motorist who ran down a 23-year-old woman on Front Street last week.

After issuing a public plea for help in the case, Officer Kyle Wingate is credited with singlehandedly nabbing David Vierra of North Providence for the crime on Christmas Day.

Vierra, 50, of North Providence, is now facing one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury. Capt. Philip Gould said the victim, Melissa Richmond, is still in the hospital recovering from broken bones.

BELLINGHAM - Michael Liberatore, 52, of Bellingham, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Buffalo, NY on May 4, 1961, he was the beloved son of Barbara S. (Szelagowski) Greco of Bellingham and the late Ralph J. Liberatore.
He was the loving brother of Deborah A. Rampenthal of Bellingham. He leaves his cherished nephews Shawn Carmen and Daniel Rampenthal and his niece Kristina Oliver all of Bellingham and seven great nieces and nephews.

BLACKSTONE - Constance T. "Connie" (Recore) Rivard, 80, of Blackstone, formerly of Woonsocket and Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife for 59 years of Normand A. Rivard. Born in Woonsocket, RI on August 14, 1933 to the late Peter A. and Dorilda (Paul) Recore.
