NORTH SMITHFIELD — Davies Tech came ridiculously close to achieving the impossible on Wednesday night.
Its host, North Smithfield High, had taken a 26-26 halftime stalemate into the locker room, then assembled a remarkable 14-0 flurry in the span of 6:07 to start the final stanza to snatch a 40-26 cushion.
Slowly, the gamey Patriots fought back, and actually held a 51-49 lead with just 8.8 ticks left in regulation – and with senior tri-captain Rosaliz Torres on the foul line.
Adelard L. Caouette
CUMBERLAND- Adelard L. Caouette, 85, of Manville Hill Rd., died February 12, 2013 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. He was the husband of Muriel L. (Milot) Caouette whom he married September 2, 1989 and he was the husband of the late Therese (Dancause) Caouette.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Adelard and Roseanna (Gregoire) Caouette.

BLACKSTONE- Ada Clarke, 95, of Blackstone, MA died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, RI. She was the wife of the late Les Clarke.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Abraham and Celia (Schatz) Bergman.
Mrs. Clarke is survived by one son: Charles Clarke and his wife Charlene of Fayston, VT; and one sister: Hilda Verdura. She was predeceased by one daughter: Sharon Rappleyea and two siblings: Rose Kantor and Jacob Bergman.

Beausoleil
WOONSOCKET- Michelle A. (Bouley) Beausoleil, 42, of Sunset Ave. died Sunday February 10, 2013 at home with her loving family by her side, after courageously fighting a battle with cancer for seven years. She was the beloved wife of Ronald J. Beausoleil.
Born in Woonsocket, Michelle was the daughter of Arthur G. Bouley Jr. and the late Jeanne S. (Lafleur) Bouley.
She worked as a Physical Therapist for Milford Whitinsville Regional Hospital and also in Real Estate for Century 21. She also was a Homemaker, which she loved the most.
William C. Perry, Jr.
PROVIDENCE- William C. Perry, Jr., 51 of Providence passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Feb. 7, 2013 with his family by his side.
Born in North Smithfield, RI, son of late William C. Perry Sr., and leaves behind his mother Joan Perry of Harrisville, RI and his sister Deborah Fortier of Harrisville, RI, daughter Kathrine Filingiere of Bristol, RI.

Eugenia Carolina Surowiec
REHOBOTH- Eugenia Carolina Surowiec, RPH, of Rehoboth MA., passed away February 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Walter & Virginia ( Dyjak) Surowiec.
Eugenia graduated on the Dean's list from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1976 with a BS in Pharmacology.
She also graduated on the Dean's list from Johnson & Wales College in 1982 receiving an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts.
At Johnson & Wales she was accepted into the Silver Key Honor Society.

Salvas Jr.
WOONSOCKET- Theodore E. "Fred" Salvas Jr. passed away February 10, 2013 at Home & Hospice Care of RI in Providence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Woonsocket RI, a son of the late Theodore Sr. & Anne (Smith) Salvas.
Fred worked for the Cumberland Auto Salvage in ME, as an auto dismantler. He lived most of his life in Woonsocket. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Three Stooges.

Alex Martinez, of Cumberland, center, is all smiles after being crowned Mardi Gras King at the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Tuesday night. Joining him in the fun are Mardi Gras Queen Emily Gnys, left, Prince Jacob Jordan, in back, and Princess Kayla Tannock. The supper took place at Christ Church Episcopal in Lincoln.
PROVIDENCE — When the North Smithfield public schools tried to raise money for interscholastic sports in 2009 by assessing participation fees, some students paid the charge willingly, but the move was met with legal challenges and dropped when booster clubs raised the necessary money to run the teams.
